And if you ask any Russian life in the Soviet times was very happy..not that you know any of it even though you have a lot to say…

Of the three Russians I personally know, who live in Canada now, none of them considered Soviet times as happy, let alone very happy. But I imagine this could be colored by the fact that they were teens and young adults in the late 70s and into the 80s as things started to deteriorate. None of them could get a house, nor did they have access to a personal motorized vehicle. Quality clothing was hard to come by and later on, even food.

Could be that life was better in the 50s and 60s. I'm genuinely curious about that time period in Russian history.

IMHO it is a heartbreak. Why zelensky doesn’t turn in his brain.. and instead of cancelling meeting with Putin for talks and pushing 60 year old male civilians to death for his presidency and pride. How about realistically evaluating the situation as it is right now?

And what... become a Russian puppet state? Many would rather die with their dignity intacted rather than live without basic freedoms and the right to self-determination.

I thought Zelenskyy was a fool but he's actually turning out to be quite heroic. Do you think for one second that you would see Putin out on the front lines as a foreign army closes in on him? No he'd be hiding in his bunker or more likely long since fleed with his oligarch buddies.

And it's not for simple presidency and pride, he's making this stand because it works. It's called asymmetrical warfare - It's why America had issues in Iraq and Afghanistan and is no longer there. I'm starting to think Putin is the fool for thinking the same tactics wouldn't be used against him as apparently he thought he could take Kyiv quickly and easily.

Legend has it there was no room for more soldiers on the island because they couldn't fit anymore balls of that size on it.
