It's a "Ukraine for Taiwan" trade.
It's like the Movies "Patton", which I am sure both the Russians and Chinese have seen. Russia has grabbed us ("free" world) by the nose and the Chinese are going to kick us in the ass. I won't be able to say I told you so, step one of phase two will be to knock down all the communications satellites. Sweet dreams all...

Saudi Arabia must have had bought billions of dollars worth of
U.S. weapons in Desert Storm I. But their army still had to hide
behind U.S. army butts fighting Saddam Hussein. We will have to
send our soldiers to defend Taiwan when China is ready to invade.

Ukraine inherited the third largest nuclear arsenal in the world upon the break up of the former USSR. but gave up all nukes due international pressure, with the new nation of Ukraine lacking infrastructure to handle being a nuclear power. The nukes could only have been operated by Moscow anyway but Ukraine should have retained some nuclear weapons and tried to obtain directional control which would have made the current situation possible.

Would have been nearly impossible for them to pull off, from everything I've seen about it.
