'Briane is a real person': B.C. MP Mark Strahl sticks by convoy donor frozen account claim | Toronto SunBriane from Chilliwack has disappeared....
The claim that a donor’s account was caught up in the anti-convoy sweep came from B.C. MP Mark Strahl. He tweeted Sunday that a person named Briane, who he said was “a single mom from Chilliwack working a minimum wage job,” made the donation “when it was 100 per cent legal,” and had not otherwise taken part in convoy-related activities. He provided neither her last name nor her financial institution, but said “her bank account has now been frozen.”
A representative for Mr. Strahl said the MP was not available to comment. Mr. Strahl tweeted he would not share any further details of the case with media, citing privacy reasons.
He began by doubling down on the veracity of his story of “Briane,” a woman he says legally donated $50 to the convoy fundraising effort who had her bank account frozen because of it.
“Briane is a real person,” he wrote in the statement. “I have verified her first and last name and her address. I will not be sharing those details with anyone to protect her privacy.”
Strahl said he has seen her donation receipt and that Briane told him she had her account frozen at the same time others involved in the so-called “freedom convoy” protest had theirs suspended.
He said her name may not have been on the “hacked, stolen and illegally distributed GiveSendGo donor list,” but claimed he’s been told the list wasn’t comprehensive and that Finance Canada has admitted small donors could have got swept up in the account lockdowns.
So we shall have to see how this plays out“Given the amount of hate directed at her following my tweet and the fact that other freedom convoy donors have been threatened, fired from their jobs or otherwise harassed by the media and/or opponents of the freedom convoy, I decided I would not do any media on this story or reveal any more details about Briane and her personal situation.”
Given nasty vindictive trolls are searching for her, I can understand her concern for privacy
All she did was donate to what she felt was a worthwhile cause
If as you say Mark Stahl is lying, he is betting his political future on it
