I think the Freedom Convoy may have already accomplished something…

At least they did not break down any statures as protesters did in Toronto last year.
I don’t support either but I prefer they destroy statues of racists than dance on the monument and on the spot where Corporal Cirillo was murdered

And this is the main issue: your preference. In Democratic society people have equal right, so, breaking down a stature is breaking down a stature, no matter whose stature it is. Treatment of any protest should be the same regardless of what the protest is against. Yet Indian closure of railroad a few years ago and violent "against racism" protests in Toronto were treated differently then current protest in Ottawa. And the "damage" from Ottawa protests is much less than from Indian protests: it just a few blocks in downtown. Literally. Surely, it is inconvenient for a few people living there, but it is not like they are locked down in their houses. And it is much lower number of people then suffered from VIA Rail closure due to Indian protest or huge number of Canadians who need to take expensive PCR tests to get back (even by car, which makes absolutely no sense). many measures that Canadian government (both Federal and Provincial) implement are idiotic and have little effect. The Government has almost no accountability. We need protests like this to make Government accountable for its action and provide detailed information and reasoning for its actions, not just propaganda-type statement.

i was merely stating a hypothetical preference, as I said I don’t support either.
But I was responding to your post in which you stated at least they weren’t damaging statues, so in other words you too were declaring a preference in deplorable actions, that it’s better to disrespect a memorial then to damage a statue. We’re guilty of the same thing, we just disagree on which is better/worse

My reason is that "damaging" is worse than "disrespecting" since damaging is permanent while disrespecting is just one person's opinion and does not hurt anyone. If someone print out photos of war heroes, record a video when he uses them to wipe his ass, and post it online, it is definitely "disrespect" but no harm is done: simply do not watch that video. Same applies to "disrespecting" stature or burning a flag: if you do not like it - noone forces you to watch it. Damaging private or public property (including statures) is different.

I don't see the federal government doing anything much either against the Native protestors or the fake truckers' protest. There is a value judgment that it's better to put up with crap for a while than use violence and heavy-handed tactics to shut the protest down.

I don't see any favouritism being done. It ends up with people putting up with crap from extremists from both sides; but at least no one is getting hurt and nothing is being allowed to escalate into violence.

Do you want to see photos of the RCMP responses to native protests?
I didn't really follow the events. So if I am wrong about the RCMP response, I would be happy to be shown my error.

160,000 Canadians got the jab while this protest was going on.
Majority should rule in a democracy.
It is called "the dictatorship of the majority" and it was in place 100 years ago in Russia. In true democracy majority does not "rule" but take into account wishes of the minority even if it goes against the benefit of majority. And, please, do not assume that all vaccinated people support vaccine mandate and against Freedom Convoy. I am fully vaccinated (with booster), yet, I respect other people's choice, support Freedom Convoy, and against vaccine mandates

i didn’t commit the whataboutism, I responded to his (“at least they didn’t damage statues”)

Right on! Embrace it as a fashion statement...
I just find the hypocrisy amusing, demanding the freedom to choose whether or not to not be vaccinated while harassing and even assaulting someone for something as innocuous as choosing to wear a mask.

There certainly weren't snipers in Ottawa.

Uh huh.

Just like Trump in the US always listened to the minority, or Ford here in Ontario.

you know, back in Soviet Union when people compare live in USA to USSR, the argument again USA was "but they lynch Negros there". I like this "Anyone but Conservatives" and "Anyone but Trump" approach :). How about "we need a good leader" instead of "he is not the worst" Both JT and Ford are equally bad, but JT is also a coward.

I will probably regret asking this but I keep reading here from some about his cowardice…… but why exactly is he a coward? If you’re buying the narrative that it’s because he won’t meet with protest organizers, than it is not cowardice. In fact it’s the responsible and logical move. It’s the only move. No national leader would meet this group when you know who the organizers are.

he may be a coward, I really don’t know, but it’s definitely not because he refuses to meet with the convoy people

it’s the equivalent of a child challenging you to a fistfight. As a grown man you of course refuse, so the kid calls you a pussy for not fighting him
