So why would you blindly trust them, is it one-and-done at 70% and we are back to normal or two-and-done at 75% and back to normal or vax stops transmission/infection/death or get your booster and no reopening promises that makes them so trustworthy?
Are you really asking why we should trust the people who have been studying these topics for much of their life over people who heard their friends cousin got blue balls?

Simply pointing out that pretty much everything these people said turned out to be false.

Um….. because they are the people who KNOW

do you trust a doctor to perform surgery? A dentist to extract a tooth? A pilot to fly a plane? I leave things in the hands of the experts rather than dismissing it because of a GUESS that they’re mistaken
You are not listening to what I'm saying! Dentist/pilot/whoever argument is a silly one at this stage in the game. Like I said, and try to get this, there are many extremely!!! qualified people more qualified than our Minister of Health (an economist!) who say that mandates, restrictions, lockdowns, injections etc. etc. etc. don't make sense the way they are implemented now, they write about it in WSJ and work for institutions like Johns Hopkins University. How do you propose I dismiss my "trust" in these people and instead trust our Minister of Health for example? And why would I do that given that these people are clearly more qualified than him? Do you propose I trust a guy like Kenny, Moe, Ford or Blackface to tell me what's best for me given that at this stage it is pretty clear that it is one guy in each province calling the shots and it has nothing to do with so called pandemic. They can snap their fingers and we are out of it, just like that, just like they did in England because the guy was about to lose his office. I get it that some people need a sheppard but not being able to see what's going on, the level of hypocrisy and absurdity is god level ignorance.

Lockdowns only reduced COVID deaths by 0.2 per cent, Johns Hopkins study finds
'We find no evidence that lockdowns, school closures, border closures, and limiting gatherings have had a noticeable effect on COVID-19 mortality'
A new study out of Johns Hopkins University is claiming that worldwide pandemic lockdowns only prevented 0.2 per cent of COVID-19 deaths and were “not an effective way of reducing mortality rates during a pandemic.”
“We find no evidence that lockdowns, school closures, border closures, and limiting gatherings have had a noticeable effect on COVID-19 mortality,” reads the paper , which is based on a review of 34 pre-existing COVID-19 studies.
Given the “devastating effects” that lockdowns have caused, the authors recommended they be “rejected out of hand as a pandemic policy instrument.”

In both Europe and the United States, researchers found that a lockdown could only be expected to bring down mortality rates by 0.2 per cent “as compared to a COVID-19 policy based solely on recommendations.” For context, 0.2 per cent of total Canadian COVID-19 fatalities thus far is equal to about 70 people.

The impact of border closures was found to be even less effective, with death rates only going down about 0.1 per cent.
Guess what the arrows on this graph represent?

I love these ridiculous claims. Sorry but the vast majority of what the science community has found has been correct. There are a few things like the need for masks that we quickly found out about but if you take the time to read the science instead of just reading the spin in headlines or what non-scientific politicians say ...

Everything that the science community has said was based on the best evidence available at the time. I know they have it harder than the braindead zealots who don't need evidence to stick to their opinions but in the real world, sometimes our conclusions change as we examine new evidence.

BTW. One of the things that the anti-science cult have gone on about is the efficacy of vaccines. Regardless of what soundbites you may have heard, the science community has long predicted that the vaccine devised for the original strain would slowly become less useful as mutations build up, just like we have known about the flu shot for decades.

Right, of course they were, I guess there is really no point in trying to argue with you then, looks like you got it all figured out with the help of the science community :) Good luck!

They are trying to cancel the denominator, this is the type of batshit cancel culture the right has been warning us about.

They talk about science with nothing to actually prove their version of science.

People including me, have repeatedly told you guys that these stats are meaningless (actually not meaningless, misleading, often deliberately) without the denominator. How hard is that to understand? Fuck, we are in trouble in this country with the state of simple math and science literacy.
But it's the media and the politicians using these numbers to keep us where we're at. That's the problem.
