I think the Freedom Convoy may have already accomplished something…

Coffee shop with Rainbow flag has window smashed. Owner recently gave an interview about the negative effect the convoy is having on his business.

The protest is, amongst other things, about lifting Covid business restrictions. The very same challenging restrictions the cafe owner references in his sign. That cafe owner should be hoping that the protest accelerates the lifting of these restrictions.

The protesters are pro-business (in particular pro-small business). They aren't there to vandalize business windows. If they were, they'd be smashing each other's truck windows.

You are right. The deplorables are much more likely to have smashed the cafe owners window because he had a rainbow flag in the window.

The truckers displaying a Nazi flag were safe from getting their windows smashed.

I think most people, even neo-Nazis, know better than to mess with truckers, especially when it comes to their means of making a living.

Anyone with a lick of sense knows that there are at least few people in Ottawa who would relish harassing gay businesses. There's no telling how many of those maniacs live in Ottawa year round. The sight of civil disobedience, and the cops standing down for it (and deployed in number for it), is all some people need to act out their own crazy impulses (particularly away from where the police are all deployed - the Happy Goat is pretty far south of where the protesters are gathered https://www.google.com/maps/place/H...5b37f4f4fc9c1b!8m2!3d45.4160636!4d-75.6890711 ).

Unfortunately, squelching free speech in order to reduce these few incidents is not a rational trade. Rather, all that needs to happen is for the cops to do their job - check security video, comb through (the much lessened) crowd for suspects, question witnesses. You know, their job!

Yes it has.

To quote Chief Guard Mothers from A Clockwork Orange; this protest has turned into a right brutal bastard of a failure it is. They are now raiding Centretown women's shelters to escape the cold and commandeering local pizza shops to feed them. I know one in that area that is very good, specifically Colonnade Pizza. There are 250 protesters left.

We need a special force to deal with these miscreants.

"Play the race card" The go-to insult for the left when they have nothing intelligent to offer... it is used a lot

Race issues do not get solved by arson, riots and looting,.
Have you learned nothing from Dr. King?
BLM had an opportunity to push for real positive change and they pissed it away with violence

Aside from the nasty unfounded insult
If you do not see the contrast, then you do not want to see the contrast

Vilify a generally peacefully protest while excusing the mayhem that occurred nightly over a summer of BLM protests ?
Go look up objectivity in your dictionary

super-spreader means a whole lot less now than it did when the hypocrite Justin attended super spreader events for BLM protest

You pick and choose to frame the two protest based on ideology rather than the facts of the matter
No John , you are dead wrong. I did not play the race card, you did by posting the pictures and comparing them. You should be happy to be a Canadian instead of taking things for granted. Like what i said, we are top 10 in the world for most freedom country and yet we still cry and whine like little babies, thats your freedom to protest but then where is ours when we have to listen to your BS? Every citizen is given the opportuntiy to vote, you'll have your chances at the next election.

This is fine.
I can disagree but that guy is asking for a perfectly legitimate protest in a perfectly legitimate way.
True, it isn't like they are planning on blocking the hallways, blocking ambulances from doing their job or the teachers or other students from living their lives.

The main theme of A Clockwork Orange (at least the movie, as the book could be interpreted differently) is that a civilized society can't be built on authoritarian control of behaviour. Rather, such a society develops naturally only when citizens can fully participate in it.

Our mainstream media is delivering the same social conditioning to Canadians that so thoroughly failed on Alex, minus only the eye restraints and eye drops (although you might actually need those to watch much news on the CBC!).

Huh?

BTW, there were plenty of aggressive-looking people with anti trans signs. I'm sure a bunch of the "protestors" would be down with some gay-beating whenever they thought they could get away with it.

Oh well, if Clockwork Orange says so, you must be 100% correct, Dutch.
