I sleep much more deeply and longer - now that I'm old...

Battled insomnia for years. I discovered true reason for insomnia is food or how much you've had.
My entire day revolves around food and I don't have trouble sleeping when I get my meals in on time (never late). Routine helps.
All other reasons IMO are BS.
It;s possible to fall asleep on a sunny beach with sun slamming your face.

CBD oil, Melatonin (5mg fast dissolve, drugstore vitamin self) & rub one out.

Add THC &/or Burbon if you want a buzz.

Check the basics:

1. Cut out caffeine and alcohol
2. No sugar in the afternoon or evening
3. Exercise but not just before bed
4. Make sure your room is pitch black dark
5. Don't look at a phone or laptop at night, and don't watch TV. (Don't stare at bright lights)

Also don't nap on the couch when you get home from work. Those twenty minutes make it harder to sleep for real later.
I had gone into an insomniac stage as well and did the above. Definitely helpful

Yes, never go to bed in an energy deficit. This is probably the No.1 reason someone would have sleep issues. It's hard to pull off all the time because not everyone gets late night cravings or hunger so sometimes you don't know if you ate enough for the day to make it thru the night fasted. An amplified example of this is folks who are trying to lose weight, they undereat on purpose, and they all report sleep problems during the weight loss phase.

I have an eight hour long .mp3 file of one day from an old Cricket Test match radio broadcast. The target audience for Cricket on radio seems to be 80 year old men gathered in a barber shop. In the interval between deliveries, they discuss such relevant topics as mnemonic devices for memorizing the 12 times table in multiplication. I've never heard any of it beyond the first half hour.

anywhere i want;)
Been struggling with Insomnia for almost a week now. Most nights, I'm lucky if I get 5 hours of sleep. I'm been struggling on and off with Insomnia for as long as I can remember but it has never lasted this long. I often go to bed anxious wondering if I will ever fall asleep. I have tried Melatonin and Unison (benedryl) and while they do help, I do not want to develop a dependence on them. I believe they have already started to disrupt my body's natural ability to fall asleep.

I go through the days as a zombie, cranky, and depressed. My body wants to sleep but my mind won't allow it. It's only been a week and it has wreaked havoc on how I feel. I think I want to make an appointment with my doctor.
I listen to soothing sounds and music on YouTube.

It always makes my brain turn off. Then when I feel like I'm about to fall asleep I turn off my phone and roll over.

Insomnia is a very evil thing . Imagine dealing with that and sleep paralysis. It's horrible.

I had a subordinate at work who complained about not being able to sleep. I noticed that the energy he expended at work was about the same as a sleeping princess.

Magnesium + melatonin works well for me. I suffer from insomnia not often but sometimes nothing helps. You can buy sleeping pills at any online pharmacy but make sure to consult a doctor. It's important to figure out the reason, besides self-treatment may be harmful - I know that from my personal experience.
