So, I was recently given a $100 LCBO gift card, and crisp new $100 bill for my birthday. No clue what to spend the $100 on yet, but I can get drunk and go on Amazon and see what arrives in a few days.

As for the gift card… a nice 12 yr old Scotch, and maybe a bottle of wine to finish off the card…. Or 3 bottles of say J&B, and a bottle of wine to finish off the card. Quality over Quantity is the dilemma.

Or… $200 bucks towards a Scotch I would never get myself in a million years???

But how much of a scotch aficionado are you? Can you find clear and convincing and otherwise unattainable joy in a 200 bottle you can't find in a 100 bottle?
If yes, maybe shoot for the $200. If unsure, go $150. If no, get the $100.

My go to is the 12 yr Glenfiddich. The 10 yr McClellan was also nice. However, I do like the J&B now and then. For a blended, it’s good. I know it’s not everyone’s taste, but I like it.

Maybe I’ll go all Ron Swanson and pick up a bottle of Lagavulin, and cook me up 12 oz steak. Finish the night off with a stunner. I think I just planned out my New Years Eve.

I am a whiskey slob. I prefer a good blended scotch to the single malts. My go to is Dimple, or one of the upscale Ballentines.

But why limit yourself to Whiskeys. Cognac, Armagnac, Slivovic, etc etc
