Part of the reason we are #1 is because we live next to the U.S.
Must be because Canada is where people can live the American dream.
Canadians, on average, live longer.
Higher % of Canadians get post-secondary education.
Higher % of Canadians own their own residence.
And let's not forget less gun violence and less racism.
One last thing....less crazy righties.
The US publication got it right.
Of all the things you mentioned, I'll go with 'less gun violence' and I'll expand on your 'less crazy righties' with a less angry, hostile and ranting politicians.
Not sure how China is #17 on this list given their appalling human rights record?

I agree with list although Australia and New Zealand have much better winter weather,
Does seems high but honestly look at all major cooperation that settle there in the last 10 years... Astonishing! They won the European low tax race.
Canada also doesn't have to share a largely unprotected border with a violent nation that exports drugs, firearms and gang members into it.

Drugs? No. Firearms? Did you not see the 56 guns found recently? And why the hell would the USA need anyone to export guns to them?
I started with the "living the American dream" approach as it's ironic. American dream is health, education and home but it's easier to achieve in Canada. I saw a study of those parameters.
That's how even an American publication put us ahead.

Not sure about Sweden. From what I read they have a big migrant problem which is threatening to overwhelm its small population. It seems some of the major cities are becoming quite dangerous.

New Zealand has a fairly pleasant climate year-round.
Winter weather in Australia is pleasant, but summer in much of the country is unbearably hot; I'm talking the type of heat that can peel the skin right off you.
