I wouldn't say that. Athletes usually have money, there for, they can afford good lawyers. That's makes all the difference in the world. At the end of the day, despite being a piece of shit, Rae Carruth never murdered her. He got someone else do to it. He served almost 19 years. That's hardly "going easy" on someone that wasn't even the actual killer.

Ruggs will never play another another down of football. He will likely spend the majority of his life behind bars. If/when he gets out (assuming he doesn't end himself in the can) he will be a broken, penniless man, not to mention nothing more than a sad footnote in the history of pro football.

So much potential. So stupid to have thrown it all away for a fleeting instant thrill.

He turned another innocent human into a smoking piece of overcooked bacon. He deserves everything he gets.

He did 18 years in prison. That's a lot more than he would have gotten here in Canada. I don't know the technicalities of how he was able to evade 1st degree murder charges but at the very least he should have gotten the same sentence as the shooter. That would make sense to me.

Didn't even know he got released from prison, hope he never gets to see the kid.
