IT is right in your article- 4 MONTHS. The efficacy drops off 5-7 months past the second dose. I would keep the champaign on ice for now.

I got peeps in my extended family who are conservative voters, they hate Trudeau but they aren't stupid they all got vaccinated. Doesn't matter if Trudeau or O'toole is the PM. You don't risk your health over tribalism. But it seems like the anti-vaxxers, anti-masker, covid deniers, and conspiracy nuts align with the PPC.

I remember trying to explain that the pharma companies themselves had tried to make the time as short as they thought they could get away with.
All the other multi shot vaccine regimes we already use tend to be pretty spaced out for exactly the reason that it tends to produce a more robust effect.
Guessing that, in a limited supply regime, prioritizing first dose was better because delay was probably fine and could be better was always a reasonable guess.

That said, jcpro has a point here in that it seems neutralizing antibodies drop after the second dose, which limits protection against any infection (even if protection against serious disease remains high).
Even under a delayed regime, you would expect that pattern to hold, although there is a good chance it won't decline at the same rate. We wouldn't be seeing those effects yet even if the drop off was as fast.

Two major flaws in this study:

1) No appropriate control group. The data needs to be compared with people who got two shots with 2 week interval where the last shot was approximately at the same time when most Canadians got their last shot
2) No control for the time of the last shot. Most Canadians got their second shots in May-June, i.e., 4-5 months ago. It is still working. Most Americans got their two shots in February-April - their protection wears off and they need the booster.

Connecting to point (2) above: Anyone who got 2 shots with 2-week interval in August would be better protected now. It is not about interval - it is about the time of the last shot. 2-week interval protects better during the same time period after the second shot. Also, do you really believe a study of Canadian statisticians from public health (not even doctors) about Canadian public health policy? I have same doubt about this study (sponsored by Government grants) as about studies of health risk of smoking conducted by tobacco producers.

Hate to tell you but I have a mixed cocktail of AZ and Pfizer. My certification clearly states to doses of Pfizer. The same for other folks I know who also have a mixed batch.

I absolutely have no issues travelling anywhere I desire.

Really? Your certification says both doses of Pfizer? Of course you wouldn't have a problem if it says pfizer twice, but the folks above seem to have a problem because its a mixed shot. .

I know I'm protected and I know I can freely travel with my certificate and really, it's all that matters to me. The government did me and many a favor by not disclosing the mixed batch. I thank them for doing a great job!!!

The US is going to have to figure out what to do with AZ. Private industry in the US is mostly refusing it out of ignorance - they are only putting what is approved in the US on their list. Places that have a lot of visitors from the UK (where it was used extensively) will probably adjust that list quickly but pockets of other random places won't.
What would be better would be if they accepted a Canadian or UK verification of vaccination as correct. (i.e. If you have a vaccination record from the NHS or a Canadian provincial authority, it should be considered valid.)

Actually the graph shows 5 months with strong immunity. This is much better then what Israel is experiencing with the 3 week interval. Whatever the final results, the performance is better WITH the delay then following the maunfacturers 3 week BS.

They didn't, if you read the article and checked their links you'd see that Canadian scientists just parsed the numbers way more effectively;
They realized that pfizer was using stats from people in the first 2 weeks when they got their first dose for first dose efficacy. Our team checked the numbers and realized that when you consider the numbers after those first two weeks the efficacy was quite good.
The headline is clickbait, it mischaracterizes the story.
It was good science, not a 'gamble'.
