Or just some motivation not to spend your life at a minimum wage job.

You could make 60,000 - 100,000 USD a year driving a truck in the states. Requires zero education, hell peope who dont speak or write English are doing it.

But its much easier to bitch and complain and wait for a handout I guess

I live in Florida half the year.
Bought a renovated two bedroom 1800 sq. Ft. Villa fronting on a gorgeous beach for a price that would not buy me a garage in Toronto. Even allowing for the currency, groceries are 2/3 the price. Restaurants about the same. Booze is half as much as in Canada.
Florida, in realize terms, is an economic heaven.
People are astonishingly polite there.
It’s safer than Canada from an health perspective. You live outside all the time. Patios are everywhere. I got vaccinated 6 months earlier that I would have in Canada. it is dead easy to protect yourself from Covid, despite their wacky Governor.
Canada is my home and I will always love it, but in many respects Florida is a relative heaven… Though as a foreigner you do have to keep your mouth shut because of the crazy politics.
One of the few negatives: the escorts are not as charming as the local talent here. Toronto rules in that department.

I lived in Florida for a while when I worked in America and that assessment is 100% correct. I also lived in Georgia and been all over the South (also North, but that's another story) and, while South is far from flawless, it's even farther from the caricature a good portion of Canadians love to criticize.

Have found that true across the US and most of Europe. Even without immigration, Toronto raises some amazing cost-effective SPs.

I’m told Montreal is better.

Maybe it’s in the Maple Syrup.

I've worked with Southern people and Midwesterners and they seemed polite and true to their word. Have never been to the South but I imagine saying "please" and "thank you" goes a long way. Can't say the same thing about dog-eat-dog back-stabbers from the North-East.

Year after year the ocean is going to be crawling up that beach. What is your property insurance like down there? Been through a hurricane yet?...

I could see wintering in Hawaii. It's the states, but it's not. They are not the Ra Ra USA all the way types there. Much more laid back.

But Florida? No way. Too many rednecks and too much bullshit and fucking trailer parks EVERYWHERE. Best way I can describe Florida is its a false front building. Looks good from far, but it's just a dump if you look closely.

I strongly disagree. Met some great folks down in the Tampa/St. Pete's/Clearwater area the past few years. Been all over Florida - Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Orlando, Fort Myers, its a great state. Hot women everywhere. And I can eat fresh grouper 3 or 4 times per week no problem.

A really fucked up place for sure.
But if one of the loves of my life told me she needed me I’d probably go 😏
