I would not forgive myself if I let this go unnoticed. I never thought
the climate crisis originated in what I always thought to be the world's
most civilised nation. I know some of you would say things like I am triggered
by Greta, blah, blah blah. I don't care. This is serious stuff. We must not let
this culprit nation who brought us the climate crisis get away.

Speaking to Sky News, Greta Thunberg says the British government are 'climate villains', claiming the climate crisis 'more or less started in the UK' during the industrial revolution.

You are triggered.

By the way, it wasn't Greta, it was Exxon, Shell and the people you work for.
Greta just took the time to understand the science and realize what your life's work is doing to this planet.
You'll likely be dead and gone by the time it gets really bad and she'll have to live with what you've done.

If you saw Greta, would you attack her or apologize for spending your life screwing the planet over for humanity?

I can see that many of the fans of the climate leader of our
time are easily triggered by attacks or negative remarks on her. I
hope posting link to news of her won't upset you Greta
lackeys. Let me tell you Greta will not be impressed by you
kissing her butt. Aside from the attention she is perpetually
seeking it is the immediate reduction of greenhouse gas emission
that she wants most. With that in mind do your duty of reducing
your carbon footprint. I've been doing my duty of a responsible
citizen of the earth by using public transportation for out-of-town
commuting. as much as possible. Unless we are all willing to
adapt to a lifestyle of conservation and austerity when it comes
to fossil fuel usage there is little our government can do beyond
setting emission target that would never be met.

How dare you! Sorry I couldn’t help it.

The annoying thing is how the people who hate her (Breitbart, Fox etc) and the people who love her go absolutely nuts about her.

I remember a great lunch room argument at the office (remember when we used to go to the office?) with people who loved her hated her.

It was hilarious!

One person says “she’s a retard” and the other says “she’s not a retard! She has Autism, Aspbergers, OCD and selective mutism” and the other person says “so…that’s a different type of retard” and the other other person says “how dare you attack a child! What have you ever done for the world?” and the other person says “She’s not a child, she’s like 16 or 17, but she just looks younger because she’s a retard and I’ve done more for the world than her because I pay income tax and don’t annoy anyone”.

Then, get this.

Both of these people turned on me because I was laughing at them as they argued so I said “how dare you” mockingly as I threw my empty Diet Pepsi tin in the garbage right next to the recycling bin because they both end up on the same place.

I think the reason why so many people hyped her up was because she was the only person who could annoy Trump, so they just kept her in the news all the time otherwise we would only hear about him.

It reminds me of when Howard Stern told his listeners to call into American Idol to vote for Sanjaya just to annoy Simon.

All of a sudden the Kardashians don’t seem so annoying.

‘Build back better, blah blah blah’: Greta Thunberg mocks Joe Biden and Boris Johnson in climate speech

Lamiat Sabin

Greta Thunberg has mocked leaders around the world for delivering too much “blah blah blah”
and not doing enough to tackle climate change.

The Swedish activist, alongside fellow environmentalist Vanessa Nakate, from Uganda, was in Milan speaking at a youth summit.

At the climate gathering, Greta said: “Build back better. Blah, blah, blah. Green economy. Blah blah blah. Net-zero by 2050. Blah, blah, blah.”

Many politicians, notably PM Boris Johnson and US President Joe Biden, have regularly used these slogans and terms in speeches. In February, Mr Johnson teased Mr Biden at a G7 meeting for possibly having “nicked [the slogans] from us”.

Greta, 18, said she even doubted the intentions of the organisers of the Youth4Climate event, which is run by the World Bank Group.

She said: “They invite cherry-picked young people to pretend they are listening to us. But they are not.

“They are clearly not listening to us. Just look at the numbers. Emissions are still rising. The science doesn’t lie.

“Leaders like to say, ‘We can do it.’ They obviously don’t mean it. We do.”

Vanessa, 24, said that promises of about £85bn a year to help poorer countries that are vulnerable to the impact of climate change has not materialised.

The wealthiest nations have failed to fulfil their promise made in 2010, at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, to pay that amount by 2020.

She said that wildfires in California and Greece and floods in Germany and Belgium show that “loss and damage is now possible everywhere”, but that Africa is particularly affected despite the continent being the “lowest emitter of CO2 emissions of any continent except Antartica”.

Last week, she said she saw police taking away a body that had been washed away by storms in the Ugandan capital Kampala, while others searched for more victims.

Her mother told her that one man dragged off by the water had been trying to save the goods he was selling from being washed away.

Vanessa added: “No more empty conferences. It’s time to show us the money. It’s time, it’s time, it’s time. And don’t forget to listen to the most-affected people and areas.”

Ms Thunberg was pictured comforting Vanessa as she broke out in tears after having become overwhelmed during her speech.

The three-day-long summit hosted about 400 activists aged 15 to 29 from 186 countries.

It intends to send its recommendations regarding climate change to the UN Cop26 climate summit in Glasgow that begins on 31 October.

Chinese president Xi Jinping has announced that China will no longer fund coal-fired plants abroad, and Mr Biden announced a plan for the US to double financial aid for green growth to poorer nations.

In addition, Turkey has said it will adhere to the Paris Agreement protocols and South Africa announced more ambitious emissions targets.

Roberto Cingolani, Italy’s minister for ecological transition, who is hosting the Milan youth summit, said: “These are good steps.

“They mean that they are moving in the right direction ... I never expect quantum jumps in this gigantic operation on a world level. But the indicators are all good.”

Some are threatened by Greta's development, she's right.

Australia's Prime Minister Scott Morrison says he's not attending the Glasgow Conference. He's at least being honest, even though his country's most valuable land has been ravaged by forest fires and The Great Barrier Reef is getting bleached.

Boris Johnson is investing in the construction of off-shore oil rigs. It's a political move to stymie the Scottish National Party by creating jobs at their base in Aberdeen. In America, fracking of The Great Permian Basin is going full bore. It's poisoning the water supply from El Paso to Albuquerque but it will lift New Mexico out of poverty. Some say Greta is too dumb to know that she's being manipulated by Larry Fink, maybe so, there is money to be made from green technology.

Wow, I'm so relieved to have an official spokesperson for Greta here on this board.
You really do speak for an entire generation in exactly the same way that Exxon PR guy does.

The shocking thing is that most people trust her over you and Exxon.
Shocking.

The Prime Minister of Australia doesn't see any point in going to Glasgow. They're making too much money selling coal to the PRC.

Yeah she is.

Man made climate change may or may not be real, (full disclosure I am very skeptical that it is real), however, even if it is a thing, it is not going to lay waste to the entire planet. This is just utter nonsense and only gullible people buy into the end is nigh narrative. The apocalypse sells. But I'm not buying it.

Of course it won't lay waste to the planet. It will lay waste to the people. We're fucked. The planet will be just fine once we're gone.

Thunberg's influence on people's mindset is subtle.

It is our leaders' fault, it is their responsibility to fix climate change.

To her followers in the third world like the country of her lackey
Vanessa Nakate it is the fault of us in the developed country who
created the natural disasters in the less developed parts of the
world. And fighting for climate change is fighting for climate
justice for them.

Looks to me purpose of Nakate flew to Milan from Uganda to
participate in the youth climate conference was to remind the
affluent world they owe the third world billions to be paid in
climate aid in the coming years.

Thunberg is a lot less influential than people might think in
individuals' lifestyle. Her fans and followers continue burning
fossil fuel outside the activities of climate strike on Friday.
Politicians like Trudeau took advantage of her popularity to
promote bogus climate policy like planting 2 billion trees.

Regardless of whether she is right or wrong emission growth is to continue.

She may be annoying, but she is not wrong.
Her childhood was taken not by global warming but her derpy parents who put terror in their child to weaponize her for their political goals

Her future is not under any threat from global warming. She lives in Sweden, not in one of those atolls that will sink under the waves, she isn't one of those dirt farmers living on the edge, or in the floodplains, she doesn't live in one of those areas where the wet bulb temp [temp and humidity] will get high enough to literally be unlivable. [35 degrees]. Sure Stockholm will have flooding probems by as Dutch lesbians would say... meh Tuesday.

She derps on about people who only care about money, when it's also wealth that is going to provide the resources to get out of this and reduce the worst effects [see dutch lesbians, they don't work for free], I suppose she expects solar wind and nukes to be made by unicorns. Also how does she think that boat she sailed on was made, how did those crew memebers fly back home and how did she get access to those electric vehicles she got to ride in. She is a no nothing hypocrite.

I've seen on the television teens at her events talk as if they won't live past the age of 30,

She claims we need to cut emissions by 80% by 2030 which. 1: Is a bit excessive. 2: Will never ever happen without mass death and suffering, 3: Makes her refusal to go to China and India problematic as without them on board it would be literally impossible.

But hey, I get my information from sources like my favorite adult magazine "The Economist" not from teenage girls who are trending. That makes me literally Hitler I guess.

In general she is like those teens who like to talk deeply but you quickly understand that they don't actually have a deeper understanding of things. At least she isn't 30ish like AOC so she has an excuse.

Those who love her [and AOC] do so because they agree with her and thus don't care to examine what she says. Herp Derp she make old white dudes angry me like. Much like how Trumptards suck on Donalds dick and think he is honest. Too many people have this my side or die mentality. On both sides.

On the plus side, she is right about 1 thing. The political response is a joke, We should have been acting on this decades ago. However the fault is not them but voters. Hell they couldn't be bothered to buy small fuel efficient vehicles. Any attempt to have them actually do something is mostly bound for failure.

They just follow the lead of the voters who literally don't give a fuck [well maybe 5% do]
However she isn't really one to go to for a deeper understanding of things.

So why did Exxon and Shell's scientists come up with the same numbers 40 years ago if its all a myth?

Why can't you answer to this?

If the pandemic has taught us anything its that government can make massive change and only they can make massive change.
You and Exxon will fight it but once you get voters to understand that what they are seeing every year is real and getting worse they'll vote for change.
Even the tobacco industry and their lobbyists could only stall that change for so long, its coming for you too.

Besides, its totally doable.

To thwart the Scottish National Party, Boris Johnson is investing in more offshore oil rigs.

It's impossible to totally get rid of fossil fuels, especially with more developing countries buying into the energy intensive Western lifestyle. It can be made more efficient, if for profit capitalism didn't get in the way. Renewables aren't really the answer either, one facet of the ecosystem will always take the hit.

At least lovely Dianna will not bend the chisel.
