I didn’t name names, just commented on what happened to me and why I think spas are doing well in the city. I see it drew out the usual suspects.
I don’t know what comment was deleted. I also enjoy discussing this topic as it sheds light on it from both sides.
So hard to have a frank discussion about anything these days.
I don't know why your comment was deleted, but I would guess that the "how nice" (or whatever you said) appended to the anecdote caused a moderator to interpret it as a complaint about that person's deposit policy rather than just a story about what happened to you.
Its simple guys, we hobbyist arent allowed to compalin or mention anything negative about SW i.e rates. But SW are allowed. C'mon guys you dont see the pattern?
Is there something wrong with you ? Seriously, lets see,..............why don't we allow discussions on screening processes ? Why ? because all of the dozens and dozens of threads in the past that have turned into shitshows from nobody but whinners. How many hobbyists do you know that have been raped, robbed and beaten ?? How many hobbyists do you know that have been murdered by some sick stalker. These are things that we here at TERB deal with on a daily basis trying to assist law enforcement in catching these wackjobs. Screening keeps the ladies safe,. If you don't like it, find another hobby.
The same goes for deposits, there wouldn't be a necessity of deposits if many of these ladies didn't get bombed with fake booking and no shows. Pretty simple, do your homework before sending any money, if the provider has a history of ripping people off stay away. Tons of good, honest providers out there that are just trying to make a living.
No amount of whining or bickering will change a providers mind on how she decides to screen to keep herself safe or what to charge, so arguments such as this thread are a waste time. MOVE ON
Have you been to the states or just to the US message boards? I've been to the states frequently, if you think deposits are the standard someone is lying to you.

You call what goes on this Ottawa section a conversation ? More like a bunch of trolls with their constant whining about the same issues over and over. I was in Ottawa pre- covid, and tried to book a hottie for some come company . Had ZERO luck, the pickings were so slim it was pathetic. Did some research and found out that a lot of the indies that frequented Ottawa, no longer go, damn even the agencies that used to go there no longer do. Too many trolls, bargain hunters, misogynistic idiots and time-wasters. You all have each other to blame. Oh wait, thats right, most of you have never booked an escort. Just alot of trolls who are ruining it for everyone else. You dont read this crap in the Toronto section. Good job.
I offered a Meet & Greet years ago and I have to say it was a waste of time. I had three come, one asked me to be his girlfriend, one to see me naked and the final booked 4 years later but by then I had already established myself and asked for a deposit.
I also allowed one to drop a deposit off. I set aside time in a busy day which meant I couldn’t see a client, got ready since you still have to look presentable and have your space clean. He showed up with less than we discussed and then was a LMC.
In any case, it doesn’t make sense for an established provider with a reputation for honesty to have to do a Meet & Greet. The whole point of building up a reputation is that your name speaks for itself. In this situation, it’s the unknown client who has everything to prove. And some good ways of doing that are: screening, deposits & references. This is what helps demonstrate you’re serious and safe, and is your contribution to developing mutual trust.
In a climate where we’re being inundated with fake-bookings, no shows and a spike in last-minute cancellations, it’s very hard to run a viable business without deposits. Keep in mind we’re also dealing with a fair amount of anti-SW haters and so policies are there to keep bad players at bay and from interfering with us. It’s exactly what ALL of you would do were the shoe on the other foot.
From what I read, it’s absolutely the wild-west now on LL. If I was on the client-side of the equation, I would pick really carefully, considering not just who has cute booty shots and rhymes off all the acronyms, but those who have an established pattern of fair dealings. Otherwise, buyer beware—you’ll be accepting some risk knowing you win some and you can lose some too.
In the end there are no guarantees, anyone (with or without cause) can just take your fee and still refuse services. And this can happen in many other arenas, I can provide a list a garbage lawyers if anyone wants to really get ripped off.
As for market trends, prices logically went up. We could start complaining about everything from gas to real estate. Or we can be grateful that we have a strong economy in Ottawa with stable employment, many thriving businesses and good chances for more of the same. There are still many budget-friendly options but the steakhouses are charging for steak, as it should be.
Speaking of which, Harmon’s just opened, so Ottawa might even accommodate a 4-figure steak. It’s not cheap, probably not fast, but I bet it’s really, really good

With deposits it's always the same issue for me. I don't care about the money, but exposure of personal information is a flat no under any circumstance. As such, whatever mechanism is used for deposits must be anonymous. If that makes me a "slobbyist", so be it.

I’m with JohnnyFever. It’s all about my comfort level and not wanting to be exposed in any way with an electronic deposit. We all have our risk tolerance level and unlike our friend Gibarian, I’m not willing to leave my real contact info and ID for an encounter. I communicated this to the girl I was speaking to and she understood, which was why we arranged for the meet and greet where she can see I’m legit and I was more than willing to leave her a deposit. BTW it was her idea since it turns out she and I were be overly close to each other that day. After all that she suddenly disappeared, which sucked.
So, as I stated earlier before the drama, the Ottawa scene is what it is, and I will continue to support good business models, which at this moment remains the spas.
Specifically? Well, Richard Mallory, David Spears, Charles Carskaddon, Peter Siems, Tory Burress, Dick Humphries and Walter Antonio.
They were hobbyists but they weren't murdered by a sick stalker. They were murdered by a serial killer who was a pretending to be street worker, not a reputable provider. That said, I'm sure at some point it has occurred but not to these men.
