Wow - what does that say about the rest of the world because Toronto is not all that safe in my opinion.
Really? I think this city is quite safe.
You guys are not women. We have a whole different level of what safe is.
I don’t think Toronto is the safest of cities. So if they are second in the world, that doesn’t make me feel good about the world.
That is my opinion.
Ever since TD bailed out Morgan Stanley during the Subprime Meltdown, Toronto has become an International banking center. Every major American Bank has an office in Toronto - JP Morgan Chase has theirs at the TD Center.
As such, financial publications are going to kiss our ass. Is Toronto as safe as Milano? Hard to say, in Milano you wear boots in public parks...so as not to get pricked by a used syringes.

Sadly, there might not be a city that is safe for women. No matter where you go, there are rapists and thieves around that specifically target women. As men, we probably don't think about that too much. I mean, I wouldn't have a problem walking down Queen St. at 2am, but I doubt many women would feel that comfortable..

Pg 12 has the results. Toronto is actually 8th in terms of Personal Safety. I feel that's accurate for a major city.
Maybe, but I would wonder. Streets are safer with more people on them and late at night in Halifax, St John's or any other eastern town they get pretty deserted.
I'd say maybe Vancouver, but definitely not anything in the prairies except maybe Saskatoon.
Its a good question and really there should be some polls around on that one as well, globally as well as locally.

And "Personal security" (where Toronto ranks 8th) is only one of 5 factors that go into the rankings, even though that is probably what most people think about when they hear that a city is 'safe'. The other four "digital security", "health care infrastructure", "environmental security" and "Infrastructure security" have a lot to do with the rankings as well. For the breakdown, see page 12:

It could be worse - way worse. Imagine being female in Riyadh, Abha or Kabul. The Wahhabi and the Taliban are the same except that one stood up to a superpower and the other is making chicken soup in Yemen. The Saudis got lucky, a ceasefire was declared before the Houthi took Abha. Not sure the Saudis could handle a Hue style street fight. Abha is where Wahhabism was born.

Should stop making obscure references that some might not understand. The Saudis rape and mutilate women...if not stoning them outright. And 9 ot of 12, 9/11 conspirators were Saudi, but they've looked very chickeny in the face of armed resistance. If the Houthi had taken Abha, the Saudi would have screamed for American help. They can't street fight even on their home soil.

I have been to Copenhagen 5 times and it is extremely safe and has the best traffic system where all their cyclists obey all the rules of the road unlike the idiot cyclists in Toronto.
