the conservatives cut money from pilot projects helping people get back on there feet. The Liberals and the NDP are the only 2 that have helped homelessness .But more has to be done. These poor people are either sleeping in the freezing cold and dying or they are roasting in our global warming temperatures from spring to summer.

Ontario Works pays $733/month. So, the only assistance that homeless need is the help to get off drugs, relocation to a cheaper region, and roommate matching service. It is truly an insult to really poor nations when a person eligible to get $733/month from a government for nothing still needs an assistance.

Well your numbers are wrong...when your homeless and you haven't showered in a long time and you go to get assisstance they cut you a check for 212$ . You tell them you have nowhere to sleep and they say find a room to rent and then we will cut you a check for 733$total So the homeless person has dirty hair dirty nails and dirty stinky socks no shoes and he goes to a few places to rent a room in hopes he will have a bed and shower and fridge. The landlord looks at him and says not in this lifetime buddy. By the way he DOESN'T DO DRUGS. .rICH PEOPLE WHO WORK DO MORE DRUGS DRIVE DRUNK AND ARE MORE CARELESS AND DANGEROUS THAN A HOMELESS PERSON. oops caps lol

Drastically reduce homelessness eh? There was a guy named Vlad Tepes in 15th Century Wallachia (Romania) who dealt with this problem rather effectively.

I passed by a tent city earlier to-day and saw this amazing tent. It was huge, a monster tent. I think I also saw an electrical generator. They also had nice bikes. The owner of that tent is probably a rich homeless person. Yes, even among the homeless there is a hierarchy of rich and poor.

you could spend trillions and it still wont go away these are people who are not going to follow any rules or be told what to do you give many of them housing and the place gets trashed and or rent is not paid

Canada hasn’t done well as a welfare state.
The problems are chronic.
The costs are huge.

Clearly, more study is required.

I remember back maybe 15 years ago the City of Toronto wanted to do a census on the homeless in Toronto. Which made sense since realistically, before you can fix or at least address a problem, you need the data. Basically they wanted to count the number of homeless people.

Well you'd think you'd just asked them to donate a kidney. But it wasn't the actual homeless so much that went nuts, it was everyone who makes homelessness into an industry I. Toronto, whose entire livelihood depends on servicing the homeless. You got them freaking out about the rights of the homeless, etc etc. I mean what the fuck, we all have to participate in a census whether we like it or not.

I met several people, and one became a good friend of mine that got out of the streets. But he moved
A - lived homeless at 27+ for several years got out and fixed himself. Yes he became a junkie, homeless and then changed.
B - kicked out of the home at 17, father became abusive, hit some holes that I can't or don't want to describe, but worked as a male stripper in T.O. for a while for the money. Maybe 3- 5 months in the street, but will/goal to survive and get out of the streets.

Some do make it out, shame seems to hold the majority back. At least I think they should be taught to fend for themselves how the homeless do in Japan.
