I agree.

By all accounts Amazon (which is Bezos) is a place that believes its ok to use and abuse people.

There have been multiple articles about how badly Amazon treats its people. From those working in the warehouses, to those in the highest positions. On top of that, they don't pay taxes and they are the destroyer of cities and towns.

Amazon is my retailer of last resort. If I can't find it locally, and I can't find it anywhere else, I will resort to Amazon. I am proud to say I haven't purchased anything from Amazon in almost a year.
I actually have Prime. It comes with some free books to download, but the selection is small. I may drop it.

Why are so many obsessed with hating the rich?

Jeff Bezos made the single-largest charitable contribution in 2020 by donating $10 billion to launch the Bezos Earth Fund. Bezos, who stepped down as Amazon CEO to devote more time to philanthropy and other projects, also contributed $100 million to Feeding America, the organization that supplies more than 200 food banks.

"Jeff Bezos, the founder and CEO of online retail behemoth Amazon, announced the establishment of the Bezos Earth Fund on 17 February 2020, a new philanthropic initiative that would see him hand out $10 billion in donations to environmental groups to address the climate crisis."
I agree we shouldn't hate the rich just for the sake of being rich but as nice as billionaire's philanthropy is nice, let's not forget that they pay next to nothing in income taxes which are designed specifically to fund services and projects that help society. These donations they make are less heartwarming when you think about Bezos's minimum wage workers paying a higher income tax than he does.

"Bezos paid no federal income tax in 2007, ProPublica found, even though he added $3.8 billion to his fortune that year. That’s because he was able to offset the $46 million in income he reported with losses from investments and deductions on debts and other expenses, according to ProPublica’s analysis. ProPublica also found that Musk paid no income tax in 2018."

Capitalism is about exploitation for profit. Trickle down economics is capitalism in its rawest form, conglomerates are no longer responsible to the communities that helped them create their wealth. Adam Smith was just as naive as Karl Marx, nether understood human nature. Bezos and his blessed caste deserve all they can get, taxes are for losers.

Is it any wonder opiates are so popular...Delaudid is a helluva drug!

I'm not saying I wouldn't do that same. Just that it's part of what makes them generally disliked.

As Colonel Potter said, "fat, bull, roar". With the money Bezos has he can buy all the love he needs...Rosebud. Recall what happened near the end of 2020, Bezos tried to buy Cyprus. Had he been successful, he would have had control over one of the world's major tax havens. He was thwarted, Putin already owns it.

If you have time, cuz it's not stoopid, the story of Rome's Bezos.

ProPublica’s report does not suggest those billionaires broke the law and calculates the “true tax” not on income, but on wealth, which for the very rich is a much bigger number, since unrealized gains aren’t taxed.

There's advantages to running your own business and being very successful. I get tax advantages and I'm able to write off stuff my employees can't. But at the same time, I work a hell of a lot harder than the average person with a 9-5 job. I'm sure some of my employees dislike the fact I live in a nice house, drive a nice car etc. But I treat them well and I'm in a position to pay them above minimum wage and give them bonuses. I did however work damn hard to get to where I am. I worked several jobs to put myself through school and saved up to start a small business, which has grown over the years. Nothing was ever handed to me.

Do people really want to live in a society where the Government tells people how much money they can make? And if you make above a certain amount, you have to give it back and they'll hand it to the less fortunate?

You make points, but Bezos hides his money in a tax haven and does not pay taxes. Do you really want to live in a country where the ruling class lives by one set of rules, and everyone e else foots the bill?

I own a business too. I pay my fair share.

Do you use off shore accts to avoid taxes, and list your head office in the Caymans?

Hell no, I don't make that kinda coin. lol

I'm actually all for people paying their fair share. But until it's against the law to hide your money in the Caymans for example, people are going to continue to do it.

It's not just Bezos and Musk...

Jeff Bezos is a MOFO champ. Rag on him all you want in his White Dick Rocket, but he owns you... Somehow, he owns you. Self-made.
Bezos's maternal grandfather was Lawrence Preston Gise, a regional director of the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) in Albuquerque.[26] Gise retired early to his family's ranch near Cotulla, Texas, where Bezos would spend many summers in his youth.[27] Bezos would later purchase this ranch and expand it from 25,000 acres (10,117 ha) to 300,000 acres (121,406 ha).

Has your grandma owned a 25,000 acres ranch?

Red House over yonder.
Was the Bezos cowboy hat after the rocket adventure a nod to Slim Pickens riding the bomb down in Dr. Strangelove? Or was he just covering a bruised head?

A cowboy hat after a space ride makes me think he may be building an image for a presidential run. He may be practicing the John Wayne walk.
