28 shot year to date is close to the norm.
The only number that's up is vehicular assaults.

Clicked on the link and saw that it was 50% Covid.

Forgive me for going to the source first.
Kirk's numbers don't show up as a separate tally, so he must have got them from a separate article and when you look through them his claim isn't supported.
Not to mention his claim that this not statistically relevant claim is somehow related to defund movements.

Finally their bad behavior is having a backlash. The thin blue line must be breached and police have a choice. Either be part of the community of face the consequences. Either get rid of the "bad apples" of be painted with the same brush. There are good cops, but when they protech the bad, they are no longer good cops.

And you think that murder/death sentence is the right kind of motivator? Well, let me point out the other unintended consequence- the rising violent crime rates, especially in the disadvantaged hoods and among the poor and racialized peoples. Cops that don't have the backing of their civilian masters and fear for their lives are more likely to look the other way and just keep on driving. And that's exactly what they're doing in the large metro centers.

That's a projection that's been proven very accurate, sadly. Its the opposite of correlation.

Looked it up - vehicular assault seems to mean both someone deliberately running someone down and someone being injured by drunk drivers or drivers without licenses.

So 2021 has a rise in that number.
Is that more people trying to drive over cops?

A vehicle is a weapon, as is a gun. Why do you feel the need to distinguish between the two? Criminals will use this against the police when they are emboldened. Which is precisely what happens when you demonize police officers and call for their defunding. Also when you have liberal judges and DA's letting our criminals with little or no cash bail incidents like this rise.
