Rename Dundas Street, Yonge-Dundas Square, says city staff report
The recommendation includes renaming other Toronto landmarks, including public parks that bear the name of a man said to have slowed the end of the slave trade.
Pathetic cowards.
While I am sensitive to the motivations to change the name, the money spent to make this change is such a terrible waste. It will cost MILLIONS of dollars that could be much better spent. Not to mention all the businesses and homes from Toronto to Hamilton.
Maybe you should spend 1,000 dollars at this bakery every day, to help pay the cost of a name change. The Dundas Street Bakery
Only if we also change the second 'd' into a 'b'.How about we put a second S in the name? That would make changing it really easy. Just need to spray paint road signs. It would be perfect for Dundass West and Dundass subway stations.
Rename it George Floyd Boulevard!Headline is not accurate. It is under review. Not a done deal. Call your councilor and mayor. Let's not rename any street that offends anyone, ever.
Stupid council and mayor. Seriously. No one even knew the actual origin of the name before. It is not commemorating anyone really.
Wasting millions for what? Virtue signaling? Dumb. Dumb. Dumb.
14,000 signed a petition from a city of 3million.
It will cost MILLIONS of dollars that could be much better spent. Not to mention all the businesses and homes from Toronto to Hamilton.
Edit: they want to change ALL colonizer street names - King St Queen St Yonge Street Victoria Park you name it, it 100% offends someone.
Learn from the past, but do not think for a second that changing a name or destroying public facilities will ever rewind the past.
Might as well go all the way and make it Dumbass st.How about we put a second S in the name? That would make changing it really easy. Just need to spray paint road signs. It would be perfect for Dundass West and Dundass subway stations.

Huh? Why should it be up to me to help pay for the name change? I'm not in favour of changing the name in the first place. Go back and read my post. It should be pretty obvious where I stand.Maybe you should spend 1,000 dollars at this bakery every day, to help pay the cost of a name change.
But you won't.
Conservatives like to complain about helping business, but when it comes time to open their wallets and actually help, they remain silent.
Too expensive. For the subway stations alone, the walls would need to be ripped out. It will take at least 3 unionized workers per sign and that will take months if not years to do. Adding an extra S to the end of Dundass is the cheapest option. Just hire any random person to spray paint the extra letter. Few will probably notice.Might as well go all the way and make it Dumbass st.![]()
Sometimes adding or removing a letter makes all the difference.Too expensive. For the subway stations alone, the walls would need to be ripped out. Wonderful idea,Maybe we should change all streets in Canada to numbers or letters.
example, first street, second street or A street, B street.
And any street named after a religious person should be axed to.
