Our government would look more like the spendthrift they are if
they find a way to make the filthy rich pay back the $200 billion
owed to us.

Exactly! Take it up with CRA and the CDN government tax laws. So long as they are doing everything legal, it is stupid not to ensure you pay as little as possible.

Canada under Justin Trudeau does not have a revenue problem. Canada has an out of control spending problem.

When I think of how hard this country worked under Paul Martin to balance the budget and actually ran small budget surpluses and was paying down debt, it makes me sick to my stomach.

Of all the Canadian Prime Ministers over the years, Justin Trudeau is thee number 1 accumulator of debt. Our federal debt is now 1.1 trillion dollars.

But there's going to be a recconing coming folks. Inflation now sits at 3.6 percent. (It feels like much more to be honest given how much I'm spending on food, gasoline, building materials, etc.). The Bank of Canada has a target for inflation of 2 percent. The BOC in its last meeting announced that inflation is a problem and there will be interest rate increases. The government will also find itself in a bind because all this debt will lead to higher interest payments and lower ratings on the bond market. (Think Greece, only Greece had the Eurozone to help it out and Canada has no-one but itself.). Add to that the kneecapping Mr. Dressup has given Canadian industry and the energy sector in particular, the economic situation in Canada is going to get ugly.

But hey, you got whatever it was that Mr. Dressup spent a kajillion dollars on.

8 billion dollars is a drop in the bucket.

What does 8 billion in revenue being lost have todo with hating business owners? I have owned 5 businesses in my time and a few flopped due to the recession and the others I had to leave behind because of health issues, which took years for me to get healthy again. The other thread called "Some perspective"simply was about if you can't afford to pay your employees above the poverty line you shouldn't be in business. It sounds pretty ethical don't you think? Not sure why your taking me personal. That wasn't my intent.

2 threads in 24 hours bitching about how businesses spend their money but you don’t have issues with business owners????? ok pumpkin.

Maybe successes with your previous businesses may have had you giving another opinion.

Nothing, the govt will absorb it if they can get it astill cry that they need more.

Trudeau is eyeballing the 45billion trying to leave Hong Kong and you can bet that tax paying Canadians will never see any improvements in services.

If I was a billionaire, I’d hide my $ from the govt too.

Don't engage with her.
This is MadonnaLove, who is permanently banned from here. This is what she does. She is the biggest reason for the Blue board being the way that it is, and every once in a while she tries to come back here under a new name, until she is found out and banned again.

Best thing to do is just ignore her.

When Paul Beeston ran the Blue Jays he said the only difference between a $4 million profit and a $4 million loss was a good accountant

It's like the old joke, a guy goes out to hire an accountant to manage the finances of his company. He has set up 3 interviews.

The guy says to the first accountant, "I want to give you a little practical job skills question, what's 2 plus 2?" First accountant looks a little confused and replies, "4". Guys says, "thanks, I will let you know."

Interviews the second accountant for the job, same question. Second accountant looks equally perplexed as the first and says, "4". Guy says, "thanks, I will let you know."

Feeling a little exasperated with the linear thinking of these accountants, the guy is getting a little frustrated and says to the last accountant, "what's 2 plus 2?" The third accountant smirks and leans a bit and whispers, "whatever you want it to be".

For the most part they are using legal means of tax avoidance. so the question that needs to be asked is why doesn't the government close the loopholes? There are likely several reasons for that, some obvious and some not so obvious.

the liberals would expand the federal civil service by 20,000 people a year instead of the 10,000 a year now so we would have many more "workers" doing nothing

the money would be wasted
