We need to add a new column

Apparently ON has been taking MBs overflow cases for ICU

So our numbers are (again) being overstated

Manitobas cases are not reflected in our case numbers, the same way the KFLA hospitalization numbers are not affected by cases from other regions.

That is pretty much why we call it the flu
Covid19 is far more deadly than any flu season in recent history:

You might have to go back to 1918-1920 to find anything comparable or worse. In those 2 years the flu killed an estimated 17-100 million. And 675,000 in the USA, which is around what covid has killed there in about half the time. Without extreme safety measures covid might have killed 40 million already instead of just about 4 million. The covid19 pandemic will rank as one of the top 10 worst in human history.

New case numbers plummeted June 2020 last year as well
It's more like skydiving downwards this year. It's no comparison to last year. And there was another skydiving type of drop in cases starting about January 10:

The dumbasses call it "just the flu", so please tell me who you believe the "we" are?
This will blow your mind but I promise you it is not magic or psychic or even a deal with the devil

Covid cases / ICU / deaths will continue to decrease regardless of vaccine counts over the summer
Then we will see an increase once flu... sorry, Covid season resumes in the fall
News will run stories about how a new variant is running wild and sheeple will panic stampede to local pharmacy for a second dose or booster shot

Rinse and repeat

It's beyond hilariously pathetic people are crowing about the curve flattening "due to vaccines" when the graph had exact same shape last season and will have same shape next season

Enjoy your Kool Aid

Seriously beyond bullshit how do you figure that?

We lost 15,000 people to Covid last year
Multiple sources (eg Macleans) stated as many as 7,000+ of those were preventable but for the horrid conditions

We lose 8,000 to 12,000 people to the Flu every year
(and most authorities claim this figure is understated for the obvious reason that we do not bother to autopsy every single one; act the same argument has been applied to Covid counts too so I am surprised you are not all over this)

There was no major spike in Canadian mortality last year
All that happened is you had a transfer from people likely to die of Flu instead dying of Covid

In past flu seasons we've never had extreme safety measures in place, such as lockdowns, mask mandates, social distancing, etc.

You completely ignored that! And that is huge!

Without such measures it wouldn't have been 15.000 dead from covid last year, but 150,000 dead.

You really fumbled the ball on this one.

Of course infections may increase in colder weather when more people are indoors in poorly ventilated spaces that are considered 20X more dangerous than being outdoors. Scientists have already predicted that possibility. Your analysis ignores places that don't have a winter like Canada does, e.g. Israel, Texas, etc.

"A Brazilian town has seen a 95% drop in Covid-19 deaths after almost all adults were vaccinated as part of an experiment, researchers say.

Serrana, with 45,000 inhabitants, saw cases plunge after a mass vaccination with the Chinese-developed CoronaVac.

The team said those who had not been vaccinated were also protected by the reduction in the virus's circulation.

The findings suggest the pandemic can be controlled after 75% of people are fully dosed.

Brazil has been hit hard by the pandemic, with nearly 463,000 deaths.

If you bother to look ratio is same

It probably was worse last year since less people would have been tested

You also never commented on death counts which did NOT spike contrary to what was expected
And don't give me bullshit about lockdowns as hard lockdowns never even started until Nov 2020

Prior to that parks, pools, heck even places like Ripley Aquarium and Toronto Zoo were crowded and open to public
Tons of videos online of places like Clifton Hill open for business (and some covid karens crying that performers in haunted houses etc got too close to them without wearing masks lol)

Back to this?

Sorry but you already proved that the mortality data accounted for population growth plus an additional number quite closely correlated to covid deaths.

Nonsense.

Obviously vaccinations are highly effective.

It is nearly identical lol
Higher starting point has sharper drop but the RATE is the same

Go google exponential decay and once you understand it plug the numbers in for yourself
(And again this really should be obvious to you, if they have exponential growth for spread of virus, why would you expect a simple decline?)

Actually Val had last post in that thread
And rate of increase was lower
