Will someone please start an NHL playoff thread.

Mike Johnson (Sportsnet) picked Colorado to win it all.

I have Edmonton , Vegas, Tampa, and Boston.

In the North the first round has two gentleman sweeps with Edmonton and Montreal advancing.

I have same four in semis but Toronto is beating Montreal before losing to Oilers.
From there I think it’ll be Vegas over Tampa Bay.

NHL wants coronavirus-related Canada border answer for Stanley Cup playoffs by June 1

https://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id...swer-stanley-cup-playoffs-june-1?platform=amp

“The first two rounds of the playoffs are played within each of the four realigned divisions created for the 2020-21 season, including the all-Canadian North Division. But in the third round, the final four teams play each other. Currently, U.S. teams would be prohibited from playing in Canada without mandatory quarantines that would be impossible within the postseason calendar. The lone Canadian team remaining would either travel back and forth across the border against a U.S. opponent in the semifinals or, instead of playing its home games in Canada, would be housed in a U.S.-based arena for the semifinals (and the finals, if it advances)….”

“The NHL has felt that it could get a travel dispensation from the Canadian government based on how stringent its COVID protocols have been this season, and as more players and team staffers get vaccinated. To encourage the latter, the NHL announced this month that COVID restrictions would be eased for U.S. teams once 85% of a traveling party is fully vaccinated. That would mean looser social distancing guidelines within team settings and not having to undergo PCR testing on off-days….”

Who has more Power, the NHL, US Government, or Canadian Government.

Wonder if All NHL Teams and associated Staff were a 100% Vaccinated would the Travel Ban be lifted?

Let’s Go Bruins!

Disadvantage Toronto...if they have to play SFs and Finals entirely on the road.

This was a really unusual season. Only saw a few American teams in action. I'll stick with the North Division for now.

The Leafs led from wire to wire so the Leafs over the Habs.

The Oilers and Jets is a toss-up. I'll give the edge to the Oilers.

I can see the NYI upsetting the Pens, though it's not really a huge upset but with NYI stingy defense they can go a few rounds.

Habs don't have the goaltending to beat the Leafs......This series won't be close.
It's not so much the goaltending but the top 3 Leaf forwards, Matthews, Marner, Tavares/Nylander are better than any 3 the Habs can match.

Habs potentially have much better goaltending then the Leafs. Probably not enough to overcome the star power difference.

The Habs have pulled 3 significant upsets in the last 12 years including one last year.. Let’s also not forget Columbus over Tampa.

In a 7 game series shit happens and better and much better teams get beat in hockey fairly regularly. Of course Toronto is more likely than not to win.

But predicting things won’t be close historically is not a good value bet in the NHL.

Habs goaltending and defense as a combination is probably on a par or slightly better then Leaf goaltending/defense. Leafs have more firepower upfront. There's a reason why Leafs led wire to wire and also won the season series.
