IF you have credit cards, use them.

Unused credit cards with ongoing zero balance will give you negative marks on your credit score.

I was shocked, but this is true.

Paying bills on time and using less of your available credit limit on cards can raise your credit.
He started this thread 6 years ago... pretty sure your advice is just a wee bit late 🤣

The less I spend seeing SP the better my credit score is... Do they know I see SP's?

I buy everything on credit card and collect points. Just need to make sure you paid in full each month. simple really.

Your smart phone has a calander, and an Alarm function...

Start putting Bill due dates in your calander, and set alarms 4 - 6 days before the bill has to be paid. Add a few days if you pay through your bank.

Setting reminders about auto payments from your bank also helps.

I always make sure i owe $0 every end of the month. If i'm purchasing something big with 0% 24 month payment plan...I make sure I pay it off in 12 months...they the lenders will start chasing you to get more loans for minimal interests...tangerine, td, PC has been hounding me for years to avail line of credit with them for less than 5% interests...lol I only have 2 CC at a time...then switch...minimum debt is $500...

Credit cards... pay the billed amount in full before the due date every month. Never carry a balance that you pay interest on.
Utilities - always pay on time
Any credit - pay on time. Never be late or miss a payment
Mortgage - always pay on time, never miss a payment.
Credit in general - have some credit, but always pay on time and prepay when possible.
Home - don't move often
Never bounce a check - never have an NSF

Time - never having a negative with any of the above, and carrying credit successfully for a few years, you will likely have a great credit score. It is about behavior, not about your amount of income or equity - they don't necessarily have that info, and it isn't part of most scoring systems.

I have a low income, but have a perfect credit score. I don't use credit that I can't repay, but I am certainly offered a lot more credit than is good for me. I don't accept increases in my credit card limits, I never use more than 10% of my current limits.
