Vaccinating the most vulnerable to blunt the spread. Is there a problem with that? Other than inadequate vaccine supplies, that is...
Is any of Ford's provincial vaccine rollout legal? I'm mean the most marginalized and most vulnerable are left out. It's time to vaccinate the hotspots and frontline workers who can't work at home.
Because there is no known racial vulnerability to the virus. There are vulnerability based on living conditions, employment, medical conditions and even being a dumbass.
I remember when it was considered racist to judge people on the basis of the colour of their skin as opposed to the content of their character [or medical charts, employment etc]
Giving the vax to fly in communities, sure. Giving the vax to places with crippling housing shortages. Sure. This however is da pure racisms.

There is nothing medically that says POC are more susceptible to COVID then white people.
The only thing that makes POC more susceptible is their work and living conditions.
I'm white and share a bed and bodily fluids with a racialized person in L9C, but I don't qualify!
This. For the most part. The second is mostly accounted for by area code, the first could set as a criteria.
This is not surprising. They always wanted to spread the disease to black people first.
When that didn't happen, they promoted black people to guinea pig status for the early round of vaccines.

The ironic thing here is that there are many more poor and underprivileged white people in Hamilton than the other way around.
Bottom line is that there are not enough vaccines to placate all of the special interest groups.
A buddy of mine, a white guy in his late 40's got his shot last month up on the 6 nations reserve near Brantford.
He knew somebody.......Just as well though as he's about 50 lb's over weight.

I agree that postal codes or work places might be a better determinant that skin tone but the stats are hugely skewed to racialized people.
Even if you account for postal codes and workplaces?
Sure if you take the entire population of Hamilton but I'd hazard a guess if you looked at individual workplaces and postal codes the 47% from 19% of the population would change dramatically as posted above.
Also racialized people include everyone who isn't white. I doubt all non whites have similar risk profiles either. To make policy on that assumption quite frankly is problematic.
