Is herd immunity to COVID-19 possible? Experts increasingly say no.

Israel seems to be there or close to it with only 60% vaccinated. The USA at 50% is not far behind, while 69% there say they'll get the jab/s, with the percentage rising from 60% late last year. International travel, among other motivations, may tempt many to get it done.

One day only those who REFUSED to get vaccinated are the ONLY ones still getting the virus...Then they will all scream bloody murder "where's my shot"...

What we need to reach is the r1 ratio. Where 1 infected transmit it to an average of just one person.

The % of vaccinated to reach that is still unknown. Yes Israel could give us early indication but certainly not the situation in the US right now.

Israel just bought millions of doses for 2022.

You actually think this simulation is going away because of herd immunity through vaccination??? 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂
Yes, it's quite possible that the present abnormal situation will "go away", or return towards a normal life again or something called the "new normal" with the aid of vaccinations & herd immunity. Of course it's possible, or even likely/probable. Even if annual influenza/flu type covid19 shots are required. As for Israel, they're obviously just acting wisely in being proactive. They've practically already reached herd immunity via vaccinations, etc.

My guess. No.

Just like H1N1, SARS, MERS & West Nile. Covid will run its course, we’ll get used to it, treatment will improve and cases will become more rare and less contagious.

The idea of herd immunity is wishful thinking.

SARS and MERS didn't "run their course". They had a quicker onset of serious symptoms so it was far easier to isolate patients to prevent spread. That containment also gave less of an opportunity for mutations to develop that are more adept at circumventing the immune system or vaccines.

West Nile is now endemic (meaning it's spread so widely that we likely can't eliminate it). It's not super sexy for the Canadian press to report on but people are still getting infected and still dying.
