PS: I don't mean to offend anyone, I'm only asking since you guys give insightful answers.

I read Chester Brown's graphic novel, "Paying for it' and a certain point Chester keeps himself and apartment where he can get the escort to visit him.

Requirements;
1-Studio/One bedroom apartment.
2-Centrally located, close to supermarkets or pharmacies, convenient stories.
3-Flexible guest policy. Where its easy to register your lady friends which out much paperwork.
4- Chill laid back neighbors, everyone keeps to themselves.
5- Ideally a building that caters towards college students, grad students or single professionals. No/less couples, families or retirees who tend to have other requirements.
5-Flexible Guest policy II: Where maybe a lady friend can stay without you for a few days without much of a fuzz.
6-Flexible Guest policy III: Where guests can visit the gym or any other facilities without issues.
7- Cafe, restaurant or bar underneath or in the same street where you can meet your date before inviting them in.

Inbetween(Could be important but might be tricky depending on the laws of each city):
8-Somewhere where you can rent in case you leave for the summer/winter and its easy to rent it for a few months.

Bonus but not neccesary:
9-Rooftop events at the top floor where young single meets and chill hang out.

My knowledge might be a bit outdated now but I would recommend the area around McGill University.

When I was attending McGill, I befriended a student from a rich Singapore family. He had an apartment near the campus with a bedroom, den (which soon became my bedroom) and living room.

Red House over yonder.
1. Do you speak French? Are you a Canadian citizen? What is your approximate age?
2. Do you want to rent or buy? - What is your time frame for living in this place?
3. What is your price range for renting or buying?
4. Will you live in Montreal or drive or fly in? From what general area or distance?
5. How often do you hobby? Are there particular ethnic or escort types you favor?
I have researched this topic in some depth for myself. MERB gave the Prez a few insights but this is one of those topics where each one of us has individual trade-offs to weigh. I have done some reconnaissance missions and initial probing.

You might want to ask about this on MERB.
The local guys may have more insights to share.
Yes, please ask the MERB guys. I, too, would be interested. I would love to be able to relive those McGill and early career days in Montreal, at least vicariously.

I had to first check to make sure I was not in the Winston Churchill Pub picture above. This is Crescent St. This is a more English speaking area. Rue St Denis is more French speaking and is also a very good entertainment zone for clubs and restaurants.

I think we are all thinking about good times in the past and hoping everybody gets vaccinated soon. I hope to have an outdoor table at both of those places this summer.

Do not forget to pick up still warm and fragrant bagels right out of the oven on that big conveyor belt at St Viatur Bagels.

Defining the art of bagel making since 1957 - St-Viateur Bagel

Montreal is also known for magnificent fruit plates that can be ordered with regular breakfast fare.

The Montreal Jazz Festival is not to be missed.

But we digress. Back on track to the "playboy" condo and escorts next.

1. St-Sulspice in Old Town and Le Crystal (Rue de la Montagne) offer hotel/condos that can be rented out when you are not there.
2. If you want to be in the center ring of the circus maybe look at a new condo building on Crescent St
2 bedroom 2 bath is $454,900. Additional parking spot is $60K. (Golden Square Mile). If you want to be where the action is
the downtown area is the place.
3. Numerous vintage townhouses and and duplexes 1/2s are available in the lower part of Westmount at a higher price point. Many have been remodelled but still have fireplaces and nice woodwork. There are other high rise buildings on Landsdowne.
4. Condos in Ville-Marie can also offer some nice woodwork and fireplaces and more sq ft at a lower price point than downtown on Avenue de Docteur-Penfield.
5. Notre-Dame-de-Grace has a nice converted to condos monastery building whose address I cannot find.

For me Griffintown is too far out and not connected enough to downtown. It all depends on what you want.

Condos are cheaper and escorts are cheaper in Montreal for a similar quality. Montreal is a 6 hour drive from NYC. Toronto is an 8 hour drive from NYC. Toronto is a short drive from Detroit, Pittsburgh, or Cleveland. If you live in Kingston Ontario you don't care. If you need to fly to these cities it can be 3X the cost to fly to CA or NV or FL from Chicago or the upper Midwest. At least now it can be hard to find a direct fight to TO or MTL that saves that much time over driving. Layover times can be punishing.

Right now Montreal is in even worse shape from COVID than Toronto. But maybe distress provides the opportunity. Things will improve. Buy at the sound of the cannons? In my view the 15% real estate surtax tax on real estate in Toronto could dissuade international corporations from expanding in TO. It really bites when pricing out a vacation or weekend condo. The ban on short-term rentals also dropped prices. Be careful what you wish for. You may get it. It becomes more difficult to persuade certain employees to transfer in and out of Toronto as needed. Montreal was once the business and entertainment capital of Canada. Maybe things could move a little back toward that direction. Certainly the entertainment value of Montreal has appeal. It all depends on how the OP values all these inputs in the decision process.

Hey man, excellent post, thanks. I saw your post above as well. Due to privacy reasons, I instead did not share many details about myself. I do speak French. However, the first three places on your list sound like what I'm interested in. I want to be at the center of the action. Also, I'm looking for something smaller, one bedroom/one bath. I think you think the nail in the head when you said, "Playboy." I enjoy mongering, but I am also a ladies' man. I think the two can be compatible.

I'm looking for somewhere with a very flexible guest policy, where I can get a snack with my date on the same street or underneath, then head straight to my apartment, then she can stay with me for a few days or a week. I hope the guest registration process is smooth and easy, and there are no strict guest limits. Then monger once a week or once every two weeks before my next lady friend arrives following month. This lifestyle might sound surreal, but I'm done it before. The only issue I've had some places has been strict guest policies or nosy neighbors.

I'm looking to rent, and then once I try it out and everything goes smoothly, buy. I want to live there for a few months each year then rent it out when I'm not there. As you said, sometimes there are strict renting laws which I'm also trying to avoid. I guess what I value is easy, convenient, and bachelor-friendly. It sounds simple on paper, but there are many condos with tons of rules, strict guest policies., no renting..etc.

I lived on Greene Avenue for a few years (couldn't afford Westmount Square at the time) in Lower Westmount . Really close to Alexis Nihon Plaza and the old Montreal Forum.

"Westmount Square (French: Square Westmount) is a residential and office complex located in Westmount, Quebec, Canada. There are two residential apartment buildings and two office buildings. These towers sit atop an underground shopping centre consisting of thirty-five shops."

Griffintown is supposed to be an up and coming place. I think some links to the transit system are being considered. This is one of those places where you would need to walk around and see how it feels. Some of the conversions of the 1920s buildings there have roof top pools. I would also like to see records of past flooding in the event that canals or the river rise and flood again in the future. That area is mostly low and flat and the river is a powerful force.

I have no recent sense of how the shops of Westmount Village have survived the pandemic. I have heard that large real estate companies have been raising rents to the detriment of some local family businesses.

Crescent St can be fun central to the extent that the sound proofing of your building could be very important. For a scouting mission Lowes Hotel and La Crystal are close by. The mid price rooms at Loews are a great setup for a rendezvous. They have a nice sturdy upholstered bench at the foot of the king bed and the wall opposite the bed is a full wall of mirrors. The visuals can be encouraging. The oversize Jacuzzi tub is perfect for up periscope drills. Nice bar area. Security cards for the elevators but not an issue. Just be discrete and polite and make friends with the doormen.

My brother Bobby the K bought a set of French language CDs and was working on his French skills prior to one campaign trip. He had read that learning a second language was a good way to ward off senility. I will say that the local French speakers would break into gales of laughter at his mangled French but it always broke the ice. We made friends quickly in both the more French and more English speaking parts of the city.

Booking escorts can be a little more ad hoc than Toronto. They seem to prefer your calling in the morning for entertainment that night. But that can change once you build relationships. I have had good results with these services:

There are no doubt other good agencies that you might also be familiar with. But I have liked these two. Photographs are quite accurate. Carry out deliveries are available to the areas I described in my first post. I was told that Griffintown is the site of an escort clubhouse. The scale of the game in Montreal might be a little smaller than Toronto but beautiful escorts who provide quality experiences are certainly present.

The agencies are looking for some of the same criteria that the OP is. No restrictive guest policies or lobby security, building with singles and not families but a decent area of town so pooners aren't hesitant to be there.
One of the agencies mentioned above has some incall apartments in Griffintown. (That was my first time in the area of the city, it's a fairly quick walk from the Bonaventure metro)

Wow. Looks like Griffintown has changed a lot since I left.
Griffintown - Wikipedia

NDG was mostly residential houses back then. Not sure about now.

My last abode before I left for the bright lights of Toronto was in Lower Outremont just up the street from Trudeau the Elder's boyhood home.

I love this thread. Fond memories of Montreal. Lost my virginity to a blonde Ukrainian/Polish girl in NDG. She was the initiator.

Exactly, I find that many people assume that if you owe or even rent an apartment without roommates, you can do anything you want. However, I've seen that just renting, there are all sorts of rules that HOA and the residents themselves will impose on everyone else. Families, Couples, and other groups all have different demands and do not want someone who will bring party ladies over. They might make a life for your guests difficult, like not letting guests use the gym and all sorts of hops. And that's if the HOA even approves of your guests in the first place. Hence, why is very important to do research.

It seems like St-Sulspice Old Town, and Le Crystal are to closest to the hotel experience. Griffintown is also looking promising as well, though how far is it from downtown? Feel free to share some buildings which might be good as well.

I appreciate it man. I want to create interesting threads that can help you guys with your goals.
Please post pics/videos of your Montreal encounters.

Please pay a visit to my alma mater. Tell me if the current students are still carrying on the tradition of nude mixed touch football in the Reservior.

1. That is a nice movie walking up hill from the flood-prone river bottom land that is Griffintown to areas of higher elevation where it has been safer to build more expensive buildings.

2. Monasteries to condos conversions in the Cote-des- Nieges NDG area of Montreal:

https://www.suttonquebec.com/en/ins...html?typeInscription=1&noInscription=10660959

http://jillestate.ca/en/property-details/cote-des-neiges-notre-dame-de-grace-quebec/1771/

If the OP is struck by lightning in mid-thrust for blasphemous humping the Prez offers no warranty - expressed or implied. Consult your local person of the cloth or Feng Shui advisor. The buildings have been deconsecrated so vigorous recreational activities should be ok. There are other even more spectacular converted condo buildings like this but they are farther out of town.

3. Per your request, this is a Prez personal video of firing depth charges in a Montreal Jacuzzi tub at Loews and achieving a goal. Faces have been redacted for national security. That third speed on the Jacuzzis does beg for some Victory at Sea music.
