Looking for recommendations on the best AMP in Ottawa. Would like an actual nice massage (arm and shoulders sore as hell) plus a great finish. Not mechanical. Decent English communication would also be useful as I am very allergic to almond oil, so that would be sometime I'd have to discuss beforehand. Yeah it sucks.

And yes, I have read through here on my own to try to find previous recommendations... but all that's done is given me more options rather than narrowing down what I'd started with :p

So far I'm considering:
642 somerset
543 gladstone (new? - associated with 642?)
508 gladstone
686 on merivale
162 laurier
216a dal.

Or should I go back to New Wave in Vanier (only place I've been before)?

Sorry if this sounds like a list of demands; I'd be grateful for some advice by the knowledgeable folks. Take care.

I can guarantee you that no AMP in Ottawa will be using almond oil. Try 174 Colonnade Unit 21. Ask for Lisa/Anna. I've no idea if she's still around, but she gives one of the best massages in town.

Lisa (aka Anna) is still there as of yesterday. Also Cherry is very good but a bit of a belly paunch. Oh, and the address is 174 Colonade

Thank you for the recommendation. I'll ask for Lisa.

(And you'd be surprised how common almond oil is in soap/shampoo/etc. So for me I'd rather be safe and ask than be sorry.)

I haven’t been there in about 1 1/2 years but based on my experience (3-5 times) I agree with you, Mandalorian re 174 Unit 21 Colonnade. I would rate them 7-8 and was always satisfied. If I return to an AMP after this pandemic, my first choice would be there.

Went today and wasn't the best experience. Felt very rushed, girl kept checking her phone (spent a good part of the massage with one hand on me and one on the phone -- and she also took 3 or 4 calls during the massage too) and she left twice to answer the front door (?). A little ridiculous. They seemed busy and understaffed.

Massage itself wasn't bad though, and there were many 'options'. The location was clean and nice and having showers in each room is excellent.

But I doubt I'll be back there. I have no hard feelings for the ones who recommended me this spot as it's always YMMV. So go at your own risk.

Did you see Lisa/Anna? I'm gonna assume you did because you mentioned that the girl kept checking and answering her phone (Lisa is the owner so she takes all the calls).

This is why I avoid booking on Fridays. It's a busy day and some providers are not as relaxed to show you a good time.

I asked for Lisa/Anna so I assume it was her. I went pretty early on the Friday but still I guess that's something for me to keep in mind next time.

There are many spas and even independents that use scented or unscented baby oil and other non-professional oils like vegetable oils, etc... I itch like hell with baby oil and a few others so I learned a long time ago to bring my own supply of massage oil or lotion. Find one that you like and it makes a world of difference, especially if you have allergies. Just Google "Massage Oil"

and there are places I prefer much more than New Wave on Palace St,
Try Dark Angel on St-Laurent or Canotek, both on LL

Thanks for this Era. Obviously things can change over time and as Cuddle points out, even the day of the week can have an affect on the service. Also, if the provider is also the call taker, that can’t be too good a thing. I was too naive to even consider that so thanks to Bill for pointing that out. Last time I went I can‘t remember for sure what day of the week it was but am fairly certain it was Friday as well And my provider also had to leave the room once. When she came back it was near the end of our 1 hr session (the good stuff had already taken place) and she asked if I would mind if we cut it short by about 10 minutes. I agreed and surprisingly she gave me $20 back. So that left a positive feeling for me. Also, as you say Era, there are several options without the hassle of a strong upsell.

I earlier stated that 174-21 Colonnade would probably be my first AMP stop after the pandemic but I’m also quite curious about Dark Angel so thanks, Mmad, for the nod towards it. Sometime ago, I reported that I had checked the place out and that’s all it was - just a check. The accommodating lady let me in and showed me the rooms with nice showers. It was clean and modern and she looked fairly young but that was difficult to ascertain with a mask. She was tall and shapely and friendly. Someone earlier posted that they engaged in a harder upsell which I’m not in favour of but may try them out anyway.

I’ve also made a very cursory check of Canotek. Never got in - older lady came to the door and spoke with me from there without inviting me in. Her attitude was curt and she told me to come back later. Did not leave a favourable impression but again that was last year sometime and perhaps service is better than the greeting I got. Would like to see someone’s review with some details on Canotek.

I agree with you about Palace - been there twice (once a few years ago and once last year) and am not likely to repeat. In my opinion, everything there is average; rooms, ladies, service. They’ve added makeshift one-stall showers to the two rooms I’ve been in and you can barely move in them.

Canotek location is also run by Lisa/Anna of 174 Colonnade.
