This is one of the worst and tragic cases; the guy they were looking for didn’t even live there; if I understood correctly, he was already in custody. The cops had a special kind of warrant, whereby they didn’t have to even knock at the door, just charge in with guns drawn. WTF.

I believe Biden is seeking to abolish "no knock" warrants with the new crime reform bill. That won't get very far.

Here's the problem with criminal liability in this scenario. The police investigation sucked shit - badly! The guy they were looking for didn't even live there. That's police incompetence. That's professional failure that should end careers and maybe lead to civil liability.

The "no knock" warrant is essential where dealers can simply flush stash down the toilet. (Of course, the dealer didn't live there. See above.)

Breonna's BF thought he was being home-invaded - reasonably - and fired. The cops thought that the dealer (who didn't live there) was trying to kill them to protect his stash. They fired back. That's reasonable too. They were incompetent and killed Breonna, who was hiding in her bed. That's professional failure that should end careers and maybe lead to civil liability.

You can't stop cops firing because next time the incompetent police officer who sent them out might get the address right and there might be a dealer who DOES live there who tries to kill the cops. Cops get to defend themselves. Bottom line. No law enforcement system can hang cops out to dry to the extent that they can't fire back.

You can't stop the BF firing because he's reasonably defending his home and his GF - who gets killed anyway.

So literally an innocent dead girl and no crime committed.

they did knock and announced police the guy claims he didn't hear that (if thats true) then he legally defended himself and the officers legally returned fire the whole case is sketchy

that's up to you as my post stated maybe its the truth maybe it isn't

she was NOT in her bed she was in the hallway when shot as much of the media claimed if they were wrong on this detail what else did the media get wrong?

Cops killed an innocent woman. What else is there to say? Everything else is an attempt to criminalize her because she is black.

to be fair he was legally in possession of his gun and was legally defending himself NOW if everyone there heard them shout police and he shot he would be in Jail

He is walking away because the judge decided that the case is controversial and not worth pursuing. Probably thinking that they'll get him anyway, eventually.

They clearly did Not announce themselves. Only 1 witness out of several said he heard them announce themselves and I'm guessing that dude's cousin or uncle is a cop.

Cops also blanked out the telewarrant and then claimed they had "tech problems". Cops also said they weren't wearing bodycams when eyewitnesses saw them. Cops said that the boyfriend shot one of them in the leg, when forensics says that HE WAS SHOT BY ANOTHER COP. Cops also said they "didn't bother searching the apartment" after getting the warrant when they almost certainly searched it and found nothing.

And quite frankly, what does it matter if she was shot in her bed or shot hiding in the hallway? There's no evidence that she was armed and resisting. So it's a nothingburger.
