PING, Taylor Made, Titleist do fits for their products...Modern Golf for the agnostic. If you're a true 15 handicap you will benefit from a fitting and you will have been around the game to know that major manufacturers do fitting. Unless you are a truly gifted amateur who picked up the game as a novice and became a 15...in that case I salute you, sir. Here's one more suggestion. If you played 40 rounds last year...considering joining a private club where you get access to a true golf community. It's almost as good as the Terb community.

I would keep trying different stores until you find someone who knows his stuff, or you can wait until the season starts and approach someone at the pro shop.

I sold a really nice set of golf clubs on Kijiji, few years ago. I was so fed up with this "stupid, fucking game". 
Suggest you look for independent golf shops that do fittings and make custom built clubs. I knew one on Woodbine north of Steele's that was quite good but sorry, can't remember the name.

Shafts on my golf clubs are regular, the other, not so much.
A bit of back story. Starting golfing in early twenties when I worked in a bar. Was a member at a local club and played a few times a week with patrons. Got some tips and learned the game from playing. As I played hockey as a kid the game kind of came naturally. This past year i starting working at a club and got back into the game. I find that i play a more strategic game now as opposed to trying to smoke the ball as far as i can. I have never had formal lessons just like to play. Last year I dropped about 5 strokes off my previous known handicap and generally want to get better.
