So selfish of these people to want to travel during these times. They should just stay home in Ontario’s neverending lockdown and accept all the negative effects of lockdown too. After all it’s only two more years and “we’re all in this together.”
I've changed it for you.

LOL!! They had a girl on the radio, today. Our Canadian authorities quarantined her at a dirty hotel in Montreal, dirty room, fed her shit and presented her with a bill of $1500 for 18 hours stay. Yeah, I would walk, too(she didn't).

I'm not surprised. Some hotels are charging around $2,000 for 3-day stay (plus HST).
Total rip off!! I would go home too.

If you listen to CM and walk you will be fined! Go to 1:09 and listen to what Public Health is imposing in fines. They are going after folks, so yes you can walk but you can't HIDE!!!

I would hope that this hotel measure is short lived and the government focuses on those who violate the 14 day quarantine instead of making everyone pay this price.

That being said, I hope PHAC throws the book at the very small percentage of assholes who think the rules don't apply to them.

No wonder people are refusing to stay at hotels. Have a look at this:

She should forward the bill to Justin. This is a despicable profiteering in a crisis.

I would just take the fine, not pay it, and then take it to court in a year or two once the pandemic is over.
No judge is gonna sympathize with a hotel thats gouging people during a pandemic

This is so disgusting I'm actually speechless. I would never, in my lifetime, accept that kind of invoice, let alone pay it.

I think I have found the answer!

Non-essential travel
Canadians are strongly advised to cancel or postpone any non-essential travel plans outside Canada for the foreseeable future. Foreign nationals should likewise postpone or cancel travel to Canada.

These fines will be thrown out. There is no legal basis for forced quarantines

There is an important word here: "advised". As long as it is "advised" and not "prohibited", the government has no right to penalise people for not following the "advise". And the government has no right to prohibit the travel (otherwise it would have done it already)

Strongly advised and you take your lumps if you do not heed the strong warning! I had trips planned from way before the pandemic and I cancelled them all in April for the entire 2020 and haven't book one yet. It's called thinking ahead, common sense and if one lacks it, then pay the piper! Everyone knows the rules at the moment and having to book a hotel for quarantine. If you still travel, sorry it's on you!
