Airport passengers frustrated but complying with new testing, quarantine requirements, says YVR
Just days after implementing new federal pandemic testing and quarantine rules , Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is reporting passenger frustration but also compliance.
"People are, of course, not happy with the quarantine rules but [have] been doing their best to understand them and comply with them in co-operation with the government," said YVR's president and CEO Tamara Vrooman.

Alas, all these fines and rules are all fine and good, too bad there’s no will to enforce them. The only consequence are on paper and really just theoretical.

Canada’s legal system and incompetent judges are setup to be as lenient as possible on the offenders while coming down as harshly as possible on law abiding people.
We should be happy that the government does not enforce the law, otherwise we all be in jail based on Bill C36. But, on the other hand, having laws that government can chose to enforce is the first step to the dictatorship: the Russian history over the last 20 years is an example what can happen when government can chose which laws to enforce and when

Too true :ROFLMAO:
But we aren’t really harming any1. Anti-prostitution laws are not only dumb, but they are harmful; encouraging humans trafficking and all other sorts of shady crap. They’re only around to appease the prudish assholes in society.

They need to come down hard of these selfish assholes and make sure they at least pay several times more than the hotel would have cost.

Public Health Agency of Canada ‘looking into’ non-compliance incidents of new travel rules
The Public Health Agency of Canada said it's "looking into" incidents in which international travellers entering Canada are not compliant with the new rules under the federal Quarantine Act amid concerns over the spread of more contagious COVID-19 variants.
"Travellers are legally obligated to follow the instructions of a screening officer or quarantine officer through the 14-day period, whether in regards to testing, transit to locations, their mandatory hotel stopover or during quarantine at home or other suitable location," a PHAC spokesperson said in an email Wednesday.
"If they do not follow the instructions, there are penalties including a maximum fine of up to $750,000 and/or imprisonment for six months."
Tell me why they can’t just quarantine at their own homes? This whole mandatory hotel thing sounds like an asshole move on their part.

Person A comes home from somewhere
Goes home to quarantine (how?)

Unless they live alone and had house stocked with canned / frozen foods sooner or later they need to interact with family member, roomate/renter, or even people to get food

Having said that I am of the mind that the vast majority of Canadians have already been exposed and most are either immune or asymptomatic
Hence the lockdowns are dumb in general

What about those people who did have a place to stay alone stocked with food? I’m on the east coast where they allow people to come in but make sure they register and give info of where they will quarantine. And they are doing just fine with very low cases. 🤷‍♂️ I don’t see why this hotel thing is needed. Just sounds like a dick move. And travel only accounts for less than 2% of cases too

The government fucked up by issuing over 40,000 warnings to people caught violating the mandatory quarantine, totally sending the wrong message.
They should have thrown the book at them and set a proper example and precedent.

This hotel quarantine is bullshit to the vast majority of people who do follow the rules.
I blame the selfish assholes and the stupid government.

I think this measure will not last long and they will focus on those who deserve to be punished rather than making everyone pay.

Focus on the 1.29 seconds of the video when David speaks about the fines.

Have you heard of curbside pick-up (they put the grocery into a trunk of your car) or Instacard (they drop your grocery outside of your front door). If you are still going inside grocery stores - you are contributing to the COVID spread (despite non-medical masks you are wearing). And many relatives families would be happy to quarantine together with the family member with negative COVID test instead of having the said member to be staying at the isolation hotel. So, going home to quarantine is not a problem

You do realize outside of major city there is no such thing as curbside? Many of them def dont have access to major chains like walmarts etc
Usually only a single local grocer who doesnt even have a website

Guy in story is middle of nowhere (burbs of Sudbury)
Not like in GTA

Its political
Ford (Ontario) has one of the worst popularity ratings
So he tries to shift blame to Feds (airports) as being "cause" of covid

No other province (eg Quebec) is as insane as Ontario
I point down to even NY state as what a huge diff in handling pandemic looks like

So selfish of these people to want to travel during these times. They should just stay home in Ontario’s neverending lockdown and accept all the negative effects of lockdown too. After all it’s only two more weeks and “we’re all in this together.”

You always sound so confused...

You also are fucking nuts if you think I voted for Ford in first place

Go look at my post history, I bashed both Ford brothers for years (I even pissed all over the thread where others were lamenting Robs death)

Okay Mr, Kettle, tell me then who did you vote for? Kathleen perhaps? Who do you recommend I vote for on June 2. 2022? I really need your enlightened wisdom to help me decide on who I should choose in the next Provincial election??
