Gotta love those charitable donation tax breaks, huh?

Especially given the fact that he must have been raking in low 8's each year.
As usual both a flawed and ignorant comment coming from you. Expect nothing less from the likes of your ilk.

I'm right though?

Guy must've been sucking on those charitable loopholes like a billy sucking moonshine.

Obviously you're too daft to understand the illogic in your own reasoning. SMH.

I'm so daft, then point it out to me.

That's a challenge.
You don't deserve my knowledge but I'm going to be charitable anyway. Just like Rush was.

You argue that Rush only gave to charity because he was motivated by tax breaks. Am I correct?
So now ask yourself this question:
Does Rush get a net benefit, a net loss or remain neutral financially by giving $1M to charity?
If you're smarter than a Mandrill then you would be able to figure that out ;)

Depends on the tax code. If it's a business related expense - and it probably was - his corporation could write off a proportion of the expenditure as advertising and PR and the rest as a charitable contribution.

Even if it's on his own personal - non corporate, non business - account, he gets the write off, plus the status, the connections and the exposure of being a big giver to the charity. So it's a positive for him.

Dougie....i object to RL, because he marketed himself as a right wing blowhard, with gusts of racism and intolerance as a way of marketing himself as a showman and a salesman.....however on the other hand,,,and im a leftie....i watch Don Lemon and Chris Cuomo occasionally on CNN, and i find them to be insufferable blowhards as well,,,pompous and arrogant know it alls............but all 3 have something in common,,,,they are shills for their bosses.....its all about salesmanship and entertainment,,,both from the left and right

I don't think he's a racist. Did he say some extreme things, yes. That's going to happen when you are on air for 3 hours a day for 32 years. But you are correct there is a level of showmanship these guys have to do to keep their listeners entertained. Sometimes you can forget that is part of their schtick.

It doesn't depend on any tax code. You donate money to charity you reduce your wealth. He's made anonymous donations as well so exposure didn't seem to be an objective for him. Is it going to kill you to just admit he was authentically generous person.

Of course you don't. You racists never like to admit you're racist, not openly anyway. Even though there's mountains of incontrovertible evidence.

You mean like the time a Black woman with a speech impediment phoned in and he told her to "call back when she'd taken the bone out of her nose!" and then played canned laughter?

LOL!!! Part of his schtick? Rush was the ultimate "happy warrior". He invented it. He was Goldwater with a sense of humor, he was a roasting Reagan. The main reason the Air America failed was that they attempted to imitate Rush with hate and anger, only. Rush never hid the fact, indeed openly stated it on his program, time after time, that his main job and his "secret" was to entertain and expose the absurdity of the political class. I see all kinds of critics, detractors and "media experts" opining on Rush. I'm yet to see people who actually listened to his show voice their opinions. Especially in here.

Rush explained that one away with the oh so convincing “I am the least racist radio host you’ll ever find” argument in Newsweek.

And yet, “Look, let me put it to you this way: the NFL all too often looks like a game between the Bloods and the Crips without any weapons. There, I said it.”

People who need to say ‘I’m not a racist’ tend to be very unconvincing no matter how they justify it.

Whether Rush was or wasn’t truly a racist, he played one on the air. I’m not sure how one could get past his labelling of BLM a terrorist organization in 2016, but I don’t think he ever felt he needed to, because his listeners didn’t mind.

Are all his followers racists? I doubt it. But I also doubt there was a sizeable population in his base that has ever been accused of being anti-racist in any context ever.

In an era where ‘not saying racist shit’ isn’t enough, his ilk is sinking into a swap of irrelevance they created.

And good riddance.

Limbaugh gone, Trump silent, so who will fill up the toilet after it has been flushed? Significantly amount of America’s must be scared an frustrated now that an era has come to an end, or has it? The horrible schism in America will not go away and the scene is ripe for the next huxter and fascist soothsayer to appear.
Not to worry amigo.

CNN is speculating / reporting this morning that the company that produced Limbaugh's show is in talks with someone to take over for Rush (pretty quick eh?)

And guess who that might be.....

Wait for it......

Waaaaittttt for it.......
