'' Disney collaborated with China’s genocidal security services in Xinjiang while filming Mulan, even thanking them in the credits! So shouldn’t Disney cancel themselves? ''

The hypocrisy is real.........
If what you say is true and Disney did this knowingly, then there's every reason to protest Disney and demand it does better.

But it doesn't make Carano look less of an idiot, does it?

It's classic "whataboutism".

.

Was OJ's loss of endorsements because of the murder of his wife also a matter of cancel culture or was it a business decision based on the fact nobody wanted him to be associated with their products.
You're comparing a murderer to someone who's opinion is that hating someone for their political views is wrong?

. ''The original definition of woke is out of date. As a "concern for social justice", nobody could object. But it has morphed into a cancel culture that seeks not just to disagree but to close down ideas and people ....
...who state morally reprehensible pronouncements or those that are so factually wrong (lies) which are harmful to society if believed by others.

Here's an article from 2019.

It’s impossible to have an educated debate anymore.

I for one enjoy debate and sparking conversation. I certainly don’t have a problem with someone if they have a differing opinion than I do. Just because we don’t agree, doesn’t mean I don’t like or respect you. Unfortunately that isn’t how the world works anymore.

No longer can you have a contentious debate without someone getting upset and angry. The world has become so polarized that small issues, gets people so upset they spew venom and get angry. It makes me think if people get that upset over a small issue, how would they react if we disagreed over bigger issues? What if we didn’t agree over the local school bond issue? Gun control? Abortion? What if our preference of who should be elected president was different?

And there is the big issue with our country today. We are so polarized that we get upset over the small issues, leaving no chance for us ever to debate big issues in a calm and civilized manner.

People only want to read or be told views that mirror theirs and those that differ are seen as unhinged and irrational. And many times the disagreements that follow become personal.

Let's see if I understand your point.

"If Disney didn't ban Carano, the Leftards would actually have to prove that COVID-19 is real and that wearing a mask protects you? And the leftards would actually as well have to prove that there was no fraud in Biden's election win?

And because they were afraid to do that, they had to destroy her career?"

Next time, try and pick a better example to argue because this one just makes you look silly.
You know what satire is right? Or are you so quick to condemn that you missed that small point..........

It is the same thing in that he employer can decide how he wants his company/product portrayed and by whom. It is a business decision, not a political one. And if 80% of the country agreed with her, she would not have been cancelled. It indicates that they believe that her views are not mainstream but fringe.

BTW, do you consider Holocaust denial and /or justification a political view?

I did not know this. I will have to look this up because that is fucked. They should be boycotted if this is the case. In my opinion anyway.

As confirmed by who?......The only way to debate ideas is to let everyone be heard not by denying them that right.

To deny them is to go down a slippery slope.

And please to go into the yelling fire in a crowded theatre rhetoric that you have in the past. That's a call to action. Different ball game all together.

Better get on Nike as well then for their past of using what amounts to slave labour in Asia as well. You know that great company that endorses Colin Kaepernick.

Don't forget the NBA too. They won't denounce the government in China either because of their business interests over there. It Might hurt their bottom line don't you know.........

Amazing how much she could have had, if she’d kept her mouth shut.

A little bit of success goes to some people’s head. She had bit parts for years, then she lands the Star Wars gig and her opinions, which she’d knew would be stupid, just killed her own golden goose.

You kniw what they say about beauty and brains: god doesn’t give with both hands.

Don’t do either of those. I do have Disney plus though and will happily stop using their services. It won’t mean much, losing my $5.99 a month but I feel better not supporting that type of business.

"Cancel culture" did not "get" her -- her big, stupid mouth "got" her.

Comparing people going after Republicans to "Nazis" is insulting to survivors of the Holocaust and its victims. Excuse me for having empathy for others.

She is obviously completely fucking stupid to not know that was going to get her in trouble, and I have no sympathy for people who knowingly do stupid things then get called out for it.

By the way, I've long said "cancel culture" is an invention of the far right as well as conservative movements. Some great examples of "cancel culture" include denying rights to gay people, people of colour, women and workers -- all of which the "right-wing" has been guilty of.

The Nazis are a fantastic example of far right "cancel culture" -- they literally tried to "cancel" an entire ethnic group.

Assuming you're Canadian, why would you stick up for the US Republican party? That's just about the most un-Canadian political party on Earth (not that the Democrats are much better). Would you want that band of fuckwits governing this country?

Sort of like what the leftards had to put up with in the 1950's with the McCarthy era Blacklist, huh?

What's it feel like when it flips around right back at you?
Yes.
And they fought hard to put an end to that shit. Why?
Because they thought it was wrong in general? Or they thought it was wrong only because it was done to them?

You don't fight to end an unfair practice being committed against you, only to start using that unfair practice against others, once you yourself are no longer the victim.
That is the epitome of hypocrisy. Something the "leftards" are very versed in.

Before you get things twisted, please read what Gina posted on Instagram:

Jews were beaten on the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors… even by children. Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that different from hating someone for their political views?

Btw, On February 10, there were two key trends on Twitter. One was to fire Gina and
One was “Kid Hitler,” which saw Missouri senator Joshua Hawley compared to Hitler. This was profoundly silly, considering the senator has zero beliefs that align with him, but the comparison was made nonetheless.

She also made transphobic comments, COVID denial comments and comments about a fraud election.

It is not just ONE thing she said but many.

So taken in context.......It doesn't mean what you are implying now does it?
I believe that a lot of trump's staunchest supporters, as in the type that stormed the Capitol, are poorly educated. Maybe I am wrong, but I am under the impression that Biden/Harris got a lot more support from the college educated demographic than trump.
