I haven't read all the articles about Marilyn Manson but I'm not sure if he has done anything illegal...he was being a prick, had dark fantasies, odd behaviour...he said everything sexually was consensual, no sexual assaults, no sex extortion, no date rape drugs...they probably dated Marilyn Manson because he was a dark, bizarre individual, what did they expect?
Actually yes, sexual assault, yes extortion, yes alcohol and drugs, yes violence and threats. All on top of emotional and physical abuse.

So I guess you're believing all the accusations...have any charges been laid?

Doubtful. Not even sure about the statute of limitations on some.
I guess this is just holdover from having hung out with the goth scene so much back in the day.
Marilyn Manson abuses his partners was just one of those open secrets.
People don't get arrested for that, certainly not stars.
That's not going to change now.

They got Bill Cosby and Harvey Weinstein...if there are charges to be laid they'll get done.

This is hardly surprising. Of course something was wrong with that weirdo, just look at him. Listen to his music and watch his music videos. He's always been deeply disturbed and sick in the head. I never understood the fascination with this creature.

Let's put this into perspective.

Limp Bizkit had their fifteen minutes, Wes Borland wrote most of their music. In a power-play that killed the band, Fred Durst fired Wes Borland. Both these guys have major issues in their treatment of women - one shouldn't throw stones when you live in a glass house.

As for the allegations against Manson, let's look closer. Yes Manson is into some freaky SM shit, always has been, it's part of his psyche. Like Rose McGowen, Evan Rachel Wood needs to take responsibility for her party girl past. Manson didn't stalk her, she perused him. Same with Jenna Jameson, who spent most of Private Parts in her underwear, to put it mildly. This will not go to court, a bulldog defense lawyer will have a field day with it.

I wonder if Thora Birch (American Beauty) will speak out against Boreland and Durst?

I believe everything they're saying about him, he's a creep. But like you say, these women knew what they were getting into. There's no way you take a look at a guy like Marilyn Manson and not know what you're signing up for when you date that thing.

Wes Borland gave his groupies milk and cookies.

I have to give Evan Rachel Wood a pass she was a teenager, the majority of them are dumb as fuck. Rose McGowan and Gwyneth Paltrow are adults, they knew the consequences of their actions. Buyer's remorse after the fact has no mileage with me. Check out the top rated Best Picture winners, guess where Shakespeare In Love checks in?

I considered Marylin Manson's music brilliant, the underlying message was, don't be lemmings. Of course the music executives couldn't handle the subversion, so they went 180 on Manson.

She was 20-23 and got engaged to him. That's old enough to know better in my book. I mean, one look at the guy screams dysfunctional. Never found his music or aesthetic appealing, just all around depressing, creepy and weird. Can't say I have sympathy for any of the people involved in these stories even though I think they're probably true.

Evan Rachel Wood was 19 when she filmed The Wrestler, she was dating Manson at that time.

I respect Manson, very intelligent but fucked in the head. His lyrics are not the typical generic death metal sludge.

More relevant today than in 1997.

19/20 same thing. It's not like she was some naïve 13 year old. Maybe I was just more astute as a teenager but it seems very obvious to me with a simple glance that this is not a stable man. I don't see what's intelligent or deep about his music, seems like the typical edge lord stuff with vague and abstract lyrics about death and hatred posing as social commentary. Yawn.

If you like edgy music, I recommend Disturbed. Far better lyrics, with deeper meanings IMO

Actual social commentary:

Lets agree to disagree. Disturbed is good but I like my metal a little more coarse. I heart Sarah Longfield.

...just don't eat all her cupcakes!

Yup. I remember vividly hanging around a certain goth club in the 90s and a couple of the underage girls coming by after a show bragging about giving him a BJ back stage, and other (more emotionally mature) girls saying he was a total creep. It was incredibly well known in the community.

None of this stuff is new. Manson used to brag about it.
I don't know why anyone is acting surprised.

And my dudes, google search, 'grooming'. These creeps don't come across as creeps when you first meet them, even with BDSM and kink involved, they know exactly how to coax and prey on women (the more vulnerable the better, you've all seen the "daddy issues" jokes, cmon now). Yes, they may enter into consensual sex and kink, but agreeing to be spanked is a fuck of a lot different than agreeing to given a black eye and a fat lip. Abuse is abuse and the (alleged) victim shaming here is gross. If 5 different exes have spoken out, this isn't a smear campaign, the dude clearly has a problem. Just how many women need to step forward before you believe it? 100s?

Like I said, I believe Evan Rachel Wood. By extension, I believe Angelina Jolie's claims of abuse against Harvey Weinstein. I also believe that Wes Borland is an idiot and Fred Durst a meathead.

Britney Spears should speak up about how Durst abused her. And who can forget Durst trying to pick a fight with Ricky Martin at Howard Stern's birthday bash...he's never been invited back.

I sometimes wonder about Andrew Dice Clay's shtick, it's mostly a work. His last appearance on the Stern Show, awhile now, Richard Simmons phoned in and Clay said that he loved him. Maybe the reason he hasn't returned is the stunt Benji pulled.
