To get back to talking about the Australian Open, wow what a tough draw for 2 Canadian men. Pospisil is up against Medvedev, on a roll after leading Russia to win in the ATP Cup, and Shapovalov is in tough against the emerging young Italian Sinner, the spitting image of a young Eric Stoltz.

Speaking of Maria. She was born into a Russian family of modest means (i.e no money). Her tennis talents were identified early. Since her family had no money, a group of Americans agreed to "sponsor" her in return for a cut of her future tennis earnings. The rest is history.
