Constantly getting gifts for my wife, often find minor holidays just to have an excuse. Mostly books since she is a very fast reader and has very specific tastes in books. Don't regularly make gifts to other women (bad experiences in the past) but have given some special gifts over the years....
In the past I've much more than these days.
I've bought breast augmentation a few times, Jewelry, Computers, cars, clothes you name it.
I used to bring one of my ex's to the mall of her choice with a few thousand in my pocket and just buy whatever she wanted.
Used have roses delivered to their homes and work a few times a year and at Christmas a flower arrangement to their moms.
The girl I'm with at present is the most difficult to buy for. She takes back half of what she buys! So I gave up trying to surprise her and going with her is annoying as she literally has to touch everything in the store and is indecisive about everything. It just takes hours and hours. So I just give her money instead.

Couple times a year, generally gifts $100-300. But I do take her out on trips ~4x a year

$10000 diamond tennis bracelet for a forgotten anniversary....LOL...that one hurt
she needed a break from work...we spent a month in Hawaii....been to Austrailia cus she wanted to" hug a fucking Koala"...her exact words..so we went, and she did!
Lots of guys ask...how do you keep this hobby secret?,,,THATS HOW!...dont ever let her want for anything...and you're golden!!!

Use to give gifts, but it spoilt her. Became more and more demanding & less and less appreciative.
Stopped it totally and only dictatorship as a gift from my side, life has been chill since then.

I'm not married. Never will be. Presently, I have two women that I buy gifts for and spoil. One in her 40's the other in her early 20's.
Tiffany's, Lingerie, dinners, trips to interesting North American cities and also Europe.
Covid isn't an issue in this regard.
If ever any of these women expresses displeasure, she's free to depart.

That’s the way to do it, don’t let her get comfortable by treating her well...set the standards low right from the start and if she goes on a second date you might be on to something.
Do I buy gifts for my wife? Sure! And she does the same for me too.
As I don't "fuck up" with my wife(mistakes are forgiven because of Love and she is very low maintenance) I don't buy gifts for that.
She would rather I spoil her with a favorite meal, taking care of a chore, or just hanging out with her and making her laugh.
I don't gift SP's. I only repeat occasionally and not too many times.
We are both committed to early retirement plans so there isn't a huge amount of consumerism going on.
In my younger days I made sure to dump the materialistic ones PDQ.

Yuck, koalas are nasty tempered, smelly creatures with very sharp claws, hope she didn't get swiped. Nothing ruins the mood faster than rabies shots.
I was reading this and thought to myself, " per la maiela" I'm saving a ton of money by staying single. I won't partake unless this contagious kaka is over. If she's good I'll bring her a gift on the second go round.

Girlfriends there was never a budget due to the type of relationship. Gifts were sometimes what was needed (a phone, trip) or something we did together. Covid has not changed much save for not being able to travel.
We went Joint Account when we had kids... I don't track her spending. She chirps mine.
Typical event gifts have ranged from rarely worn jewelry (Birks typically) to useful items she's requested. For example: If she wants a saute pan; I'll get her a high-end one. She wanted a blender; I spent $1K. It's random but I try to make it special... As another example: She wanted snowshoes; I got the top-end ones but in a 'rare' colour.

Spend about $2000 on various gifts and trinkets throughout the year. Also budget hasn't changed - been the same all year.
Forgot to post... My budget hasn't changed either... I do want to buy quality items and look after them (eg. power tools, sporting equipment). I'm done with stupid/useless gifts - giving or receiving. I'd take a BJ instead any day.
