I didn't look at trials and he is correct. There have been trials in the UK (Oxford, Novovax, Janssen) starting in April. As far as I can find, none of the test sites included the Kent area where this new variant seems to have originated.

Current COVID-19 numbers for Canada. If we take Survival % - Deaths/(recovered+deaths) = 14,154/(411,396+14154) =14,154/425,550 = 0.03%

Acceptable enough to let it run unchecked through Canada ? Population of Canada = 37,600,000 so the acceptable deaths is 37,600,000x0.03= 1,250,000 dead. Wonderful concept this herd immunity.

I would also point out that a number of the recovered only did it with medical intervention. If this runs unchecked, hospital beds are not going to be available for these or other disease such as cancer, heart, stroke, etc. If you are going to put up numbers, do the math on the impact.

I'm wondering what the number of true cases of infected people entering the country really is. Say you arrive to Canada from overseas then test positive the next day. They ask you if you've been out of the country in the last 14 days. You answer, no. How would they know any differently? Not to mention, how do they know you're not going home to an apartment with 6 other people living there, with lots of friends and relatives coming and going? It's possible that one infected person can transmit the virus to 20 others, maybe more. I think it's a bigger problem than is being reported. Not to mention, our contact tracking sucks.
