I''m waiting for Netflix to portray Robert E. Lee as a black man.
Are you saying the Multiverse isn't real? Because if it is, all possibilities exist in one of the infinite number of Universes in the Multiverse. (I just rewatched Dr Strange again!)

That is the most perfect, cosmically brilliant dumb idea that I have ever heard. That's on a par with "Springtime for Hitler" in The Producers as dumbly absolutely brilliant!

I am waiting for Martin Luther King to be played by Kaley Cuoco
Or a new Malcolm X biopic with Jennifer Lawrence as the lead.

Did you folks know Anne Boleyn was black, I prefer Richard Simmons as Anne Boleyn but he's become a recluse lately.

As The Iron Shiek would say, "you are racist".

Ive watched the firdt 3 episodes.....again this is complete fantasy world....the topic is gossip, a woman was property, marriage is a business proposition. Whether a character is black or not has no bearing on the themes.

Hamilton, OK, that's historical fiction. Romeo and Juliet, on the other hand, is a play and originally fictional as it was written by Shakespeare more than 500 years ago.
And this series is also fiction. Thats my point. When the ballroom bands are playing modern pop songs that alone should be a massive clue that historical accuracy is not their aim.

You also missee that i referred to the dicaprio version of r and j....you know with guns amd highly stylized.

Its also worth noting the series is based on a novel a work of fiction.

Episode 4.....they explain thereare black nobles bevause the king married a black woman thus making it temporarily tolerable.

Show is clearly fiction and makes not attempt to pass it off as historical.

So really not sure what the hub bub is all about.

It's stupid. Either black people were oppressed and segregated for 200 years, or they weren't.
Is there really anybody who thinks they weren't? I suppose we could make up a reading list? My guess is anybody that far into alternative facts probably buys off on the Hollywood depiction of American Indians...

Imagine in this climate if a white person played someone historical who was black. The internet would implode.

He would prefer Cleopatra to be played by a black actress. If I remember correctly there was a 70s blaxploitation flick called Cleopatra Jones.
Oh. From what I remember from the Classics, all post Ptolemy rulers of Egypt were of the Macedonian extraction with maybe some Mirithiadic genes mixed in. I think Gal Gadot is a great choice.

Romeo and Juliet was a poem written by Petrarch in the early years of King Edward III reign. While finding his voice Gugliemo Spadagite borrowed heavily from Italian and Roman scribes including Cassius Dio (Julius Caesar). In spite of harsh religious laws, London was a boomtown in the late 16th Century. Shakespeare may have been influenced by Italian artisans working in London at the time.

Who else wants to see Whoopi Goldberg as Marc Anthony?

This is actually very good, if you're going to do inclusion it has to be thought through.

Don't know who Ray Fearon is, he's great at this.

It's universally agreed that Shakespeare's plays are not about historical accuracy, but the words of Shakespeare, which is possibly the highest point of the English language. Therefore, the race of the performer is irrelevant. The audience is there to hear the words.
