Either way, the kid will most likely get a criminal record because of it. I'm sure they were given every opportunity to disperse before the video started. He wanted to be a wise guy, I probably would have done the same at that age.

His buddies seemed to be able to follow the directions ok.

Would like to have seen how it started...it does seem on the video that the cops went overboard.

It's just a case of female dominance and some on this board pay dearly for this service.
He doesn't have a weapon and is being passive-aggressive about it...no one is in danger, cops don't have to pull a taser on him and then start wrestling him to the ground...his buddies were telling him to "forget it, let's go" and he would of...cops overreacted.

It is comical to watch the 2 ladies trying to take him down and not a chance, he just stands there like a bear. LOL

15 people skating at hockey rink (covid limit is like 10)
1 appears to not be interested in leaving

Either way in no way does he resist and police are legally required to not use excessive force

The taser is way too much; threatening him with a taser is insane and surely a lawsuit is coming

Not a chance for a criminal record.

He will have this charge pulled by the crown and the will leave the city cops a bit lighter in their wallet.

This is over policing, VERY poor deescalation, and extreme aggression by cops who should be trained far better than to shout, swear and continually assault a hockey player on the ice. Where do they think he was going to skate away too, Quebec?

The police released a statement, most of the reasoning was tried pre video. Notice his buddies complied. Buddy wanted to be a hero. No chance this is dropped. This moron will be out money for a lawyer and most likely some record. The cops got like this when he didn't comply.

The problem with your assessment is they had no right to arrest in the first place. The issue of not complying with an unconstitutional regulation, threatening undue force, using undue force is all ripe for him to have the charges dropped. Now add to that the overwhelming public sentiment both in his favour and against the police action (arresting someone for playing Canada national game ....... on an outdoor rink no less) will put way too much pressure on the crown. The cops will settle a payment to him out of court for an undisclosed sum.

Book mark this note, diarize it for 3 weeks and let me know you get it. then.

They were going to issue a ticket for violating a Public Health order...he refused to give his name or identify himself which he has to do...there was nothing unconstitutional about the Public Health order...Public sentiment will have zero effect...the crown have an easy case because their is video of him and his noncompliance...the cops will not pay a nickel...

Public pressure from his mom and a few tweets lol. You're nuttier than squirrel shit if you think this guy is getting a payout. Arrests aren't always pretty. What does him playing the Canadian national game have to do with anything and being outside, nothing. Resisting arrest is serious, he was being a wise guy and he's gonna pay some price for it. Not a chance the cops will admit any wrongdoing.

“However, one individual became confrontational and refused to follow the officers’ direction.

Twitter has pulled the tweet. Big brother thought it was too damaging for our snowflake minds.

Actually family is quite famous

The guy who got assaulted in video is a college hockey phenom (I forget team but you know, google)
Both his bros are in big leagues (one is on Calgary Hitmen and other just drafted by San Jose Sharks)

So his name has alot of pull out in Alberta

Interestingly also he *refused* to accept right wing support (eg Rebel News did interview with him and even offered to lawyer up but he wants to do it on his own)

I do think cop who pulled taser is in shit though
At no time did he do anything remotely threatening and if the guy was too big/strong for her she should have called for help
