I have no problem acknowledging that there are a few million dumbfucks who think Breitbart and similar outfits are credible. And Fox? You talking about FoxNews? Yeah, there are millions of dumbfucks who think they're credible too. The U.S. educational system has a lot of work to do. Classes on critical thinking should become mandatory.
I actually like Breitbart more than FOX...

Long overdue. Murdoch is a malign influence.
Murdoch and Zuckerberg.
Its really bizarre how there are now two totally separate realities in the US, and its starting to inch into this country as well as we see on this board.
Only 10% of Canadians are deep down the Fox/right wing rabbit hole like jcpro, Kathleen et al, but its worrying.
In the US 40% of the country seems to manage to live without any contrary media to their right wing narrative.

As a U.S. citizen, let me offer some pre-emptive advice that I wish was heeded here in the States.

Shame works. Throughout most of U.S. history, being an illogical, uneducated, bigoted cultist was negatively reinforced throughout polite society. However slowly, after the demise of the fairness doctrine and the emergence of 24-7 cable news and digital outlets, ignorance began to get equal footing with expertise. And since most people are polite and non-confrontational, over time, people who previously would have deferred to convention (at a minimum) became emboldened. I mean I get it; these are our friends, family and co-workers so who wants to take the effort to shun them.

Trust me. Shun them. Start doing it now. That 10% of Canadians you just described, will morph into 20%, then 40%...all within the span of a few years. Simply because they weren't effectively smacked down by people who know better.

Oh, 100% this will be the gameplan. The difference is that if the Dems win the Presidency, keep the House and gain the Senate, the GOP won't have any investigative power and this crap will only live in the sewer where it always belonged. Also, if the Dems have learned anything, they will become bloodhounds on day one and go after all of the enablers of this 4-year shitshow. There's too much malfeasance to even list here.

That should effectively put the right-wing disinformation machine on notice, as their elected avatars will be in full-on defense mode.
That the trifecta will blunt this so that it mostly stays in the fever swamps of the frothy right is what I hope. I don't think the Dems are going to be relentless enough in following up. There are too many "we just want things to go back to normal" in the coalition and the press will be desperate to change the narrative back to the "Dems in disarray"/"Dems out of touch with real Americans" story.

Murdoch and Zuckerberg.
Zuckerberg is also a problem and so is Dorsey.

Agreed 100%.
A lot of this is normative. You need to make it shameful for them - as shameful as it used to be to be pro-Nazi.
Not just the dumb-fuckery, but also specifically the idea that people voting is a bad thing. That one entire party in the US has embraced the idea that the people shouldn't vote is terribly dangerous and if it doesn't get stomped out in the US it is going to bleed over into Canada and we need to fucking salt the earth anywhere that threatens to grow.

You really were suckered with this Hunter Biden kompromat business, jc.
He doesn’t care for the truth of it, he cares for trump to win. He was not suckered but he needs others to be suckered.

jcpro seems to believe it, like the others that were just so offended that nobody took it seriously.
Kind of like the way Glenn Greenwald took it so seriously that he resigned from his $400,000 or so job over nobody else falling for it the way he did.

I don't think that any of the right wingers really doubt the stories that they push here, I don't think they're that smart.

LOL! I can't tell if you're bitter or jealous. Bitterly jealous would be a good compromise, no? Just think what will happen if Biden wins. As the only network unwilling to kiss Democrat ass, Carlson's rantings will only go up. They'll pay him 20 mil or even 25. Not bad for a no talent hack. America is truly a great country.
Sure I'm jealous. If someone paid me $15 million, I'd suck Trump's dick and lie like a monkey too! Damn right! I'd do it for a quarter that amount.

But that's the difference between you and me, JC. I know that's it's lies and mouth-whoring. OTOH, you actually believe every last word those shysters say to you.

Let's do it this way, JC. Do you actually believe that Fucker C is worth $15 million??? Seriously?

That's an interesting question. Without doubt, many are a little challenged in the IQ department.

For others, there's an emotional need to find "bullshit and lies" in the official version of events. My law partner is addicted to Ben Shapiro and parrots his crap continually to the point, I just make a joke and walk into my office to avoid him. Now he's a smart dude. But he's obsessed with discovering "hidden truths" and every time he thinks Andy Ngo or Ben S have given him a pearl, he dances around and around.

It's the fascination with discovering little inconsistencies - real or imaginary - with CNN, or the Dems or BLM that really drives some people. If they find these little holes, suddenly they're part of the elite brotherhood of the "knowlegeable" and "insightful" that look beyond the pablum that the other members of the law office believe and have greater understanding.

That's why Trump can trade on crap like "fake news media", "the lying Dems" and "coastal elites" so much. Behind every dude like Hershel the Lawyer is someone who "knows" that COVID-19 is a Dem hoax. (Yes, this too was one of his talking points). Or someone who "knows" that BLM is secretly corrupt.

It's a psychiatric thing with some people. And it plays into the Righty-Whitey Media Echo Chamber. Because those assholes float ideas all the time, retweet each other and support each other and riff off each other. And every couple of days, one of those, creepy fake news items gains a little traction and hey! - Herschel's bouncing into my office again with a laptop full of fake non-statistics about COVID-19 and how the Dems and the Coastal Elites hoax it to exploit the decent hard-working everyday litigation lawyer in some deep, devious way.

Look at the dudes on this board who endlessly quote fake news items. JC, Phil, Oracle..... I finally realized that none of them actually do their own research and find out stuff for themselves and just somehow misinterpret what they find. All they do is go on Twitter and read righty-whitey pundits and cut and paste their ideas. Like my partner, Herschel.

Republican Party may not a party that seeks to represent intellectuals, but they are fairly smart in their ways to get the unwashed to support them.

The laptop story comes from Russia and those people sure went to schools and read books.

We shouldn’t discount them as stupid. A driver in a Trump decorated pickup truck may be dumb as fuck but those who create and disseminate propaganda are not.

But I think he is right in that it is not going away because it is going to be morphed and recycled into the background radiation for Biden going forward. It will be the new "Clinton Foundation has clouds and shadows".

The question is whether or not they will think it is more important to shift to Harris quickly to have a narrative for 2024.
Good call. I'm really starting to enjoy some of your predictions.

There have always been conspiracy theories, but with Trump the big change is that they are mainstream. UFO followers, 9/11 truthers, anti-vaxxers were all around before but it seems that right wing media combined with social media have made it so that people can exist almost entirely in these echo chambers now. The bigger question becomes how do you ever fix it, or can you even fix this kind of thing.

You can regulate media and end corporate monopolies, that would help some. You can put in penalties for pushing 'fake news', that might help. Regulating social media is likely to be near impossible, as you'll never get inside to monitor how the algorithms work or what the real advertising focuses are hitting.

Even once Trump is gone its going to be a massive job to try to bring his supporters back to reality.
Even watching how they were suckered in the Hunter Biden story and now just avoid the embarrassment of this thread is like watching them avoid all bad news Trump threads here.
Confirmation bias rules, they'll just click only where they'll find what they want to hear.

I guess that's the difference between us. I wouldn't suck Trump's dick for any money and there's no amount I would lie for.

All he needs to do to be worth $15 million a year is have someone willing to pay him.

Most people would do both for $15 million a year...that’s a lot of money.
Most people would do it for a lot less. And same people would swear they’d never do it even when caught with dick in their mouth.
