"The annual flu shot will be more important than ever during the coronavirus pandemic, according to one infectious disease expert, who says it would be a “double whammy” to be infected with both viruses."

"...I would hope that as many people as possible recognize that the flu shot is fairly effective, it helps protect yourself and everyone around you. So please get the flu shot,” he said Thursday on CTV’s Your Morning.

“This is the one year you don’t want to miss it.”

As health officials prepare for a possible “second wave” or resurgence of COVID-19 infection in Canada in the fall, some have expressed concern that the flu season might overwhelm hospitals...

...Australia, which is nearing the end of its winter, may serve as an example: the country experienced a major drop in influenza infections and deaths compared to the previous season. Experts credit COVID-19 restrictions and lockdown measures.

...But the upcoming flu season could still prove challenging for hospitals since it can be difficult to differentiate between influenza and COVID-19 infection. In late February and early March this year, there were “undoubtedly” coronavirus infections mistaken for influenza,

...a pair of U.S. studies found that 2.1 per cent of patients in New York City and 20.7 per cent of patients in Northern California had a second respiratory infection in addition to COVID-19.“Certainly that would be a double whammy we want to prevent,” said Sharkawy.
“It speaks to the importance of doing things like hand-washing, distancing and masking in indoor settings. All of these things work and they should help prevent both of these illnesses.”

Statistically insignificant.

People die by falling while taking a shower, ice skating, roller skating, skate boarding, etc.
Then why take the risk? Flu shot only works 50% IF they picked the right strain. For an industry that can't get anything right about wearing vs not wearing masks, why take the risk??

Many countries in the southern hemisphere claims that a flu season was pretty much non existent during their last winter.
Maybe with all the precautions like masks and hand washing/hand sanitizer taken for covid 19, the flu virus could hardly make a dent.

I usually get the flu shot and while it does not prevent you from catching the flu, it can make the symptoms feel more mild When you do catch it. Sometimes if they pick the wrong strain then you get the full outflew regardless.

I don’t even think I want to go into the doctors office to get the flu shot this year in potentially expose myself to sick people. Social distancing and mask wearing will hopefully prevent me from catching the flu as well as Covid

Ever noticed how doctors pre-covid were a complete hygienic shit show? (And still are.) Yet dentists have been wearing medical gloves and medical masks ever since the AIDS fakedemic of the 1980's. And Dentists religiously sanitize their equipment before using it. Doctors are by default unsanitary. The touch you with their bare filthy hands, use their filthy BP monitor, filthy chairs, et cetera. Doctor's offices are the quintessential cesspool. You are so right to avoid getting a disease from visiting doctor's offices.

Here's some 2018 stats from the always trustworthy CDC:

For those that have trouble with the obfuscation of the 3rd leading cause, this is how the CDC dealt with old #3 cause of death: "Medical Errors". Now they lumped it into all kinds of other [unintentional] accidental deaths, such as, accidental death from firearms - that use to be #6 in 2013. So now no one can say that Medical Errors is the 3rd leading cause of death anymore. But in 2013, Medical Errors - according to the CDC - was solidly ranked at #3. Yet no one talked about it. Still think doctors are trustworthy?? Contrast that to Motor Vehicle Accidents. You chances of dying when you put your trust in a doctor are 738% greater than while driving alongside those dimwits on the road. I call them dimwits because most aren't educated beyond high school, just like Bill Gates.

To be specific, you could be one of the 10% or so that do not get a sufficient immune response or could be infected by a flu strain that was not predicted.
