How useful is Twitter?

I'm a sex worker, online and in person. Twitter has been extremely helpful for me as it has helped me getting in touch with other sex workers that have been extra generous with their advice and support. It has also helped me connect with clients that truly want to get to know me. I would have never thought it would be this great.

So tell me forum, was Twitter helpful to you?
Also I would like to know if you follow sex workers or if you're just lurking (privacy matters)

Btw mine is @lenacarti
I'm fairly new to Twitter...but old on the internet..lol. I find it interesting to follow a few sp's, and hopefully have a great date sometime. I comment very rarely, and usually about something the person has posted that is interesting to me if I do. But never comments on pictures. Perhaps I should, but somehow it just seems like it could be creepy to the person posting. I guess my main concern is being seen as a lurker, or a creep. I am a lurker in most ways, but not a creep. Anyway so far the people I follow seem to be great, some post lots, others little, but I have not seen a lot of negativity or complaining so perhaps it's just the small number that I follow happen to be positive.

I tend to avoid Twitter. Not all SWs but many of them on Twitter are self-entitled man hating women. And they hate review boards because it enpowers us clients to seek better for our money. Some girls are always complaining and whining. They also want to be paid the same type of compensation like the US and ignore the fact that the Canadian market and US market is very very different. The two cannot be compared. Some SWs used to term to describe some of us as "Slobbyst" because we are descritive with the sex acts provided. But to me that is very important. I want to know if DFK and BBBJ is offered. Before I commit my hard earned money to a session I want to make sure I get what I am looking for.

As long as you leave respectful and tasteful comments I think it's fine. I know some sw hate to have people replying to their tweets but I personally don't mind it.

I think most of them despise the very explicit reviews and I can totally understand that. There's absolutely no need to be crude.

If they simply wrote that they disliked very detailed and specific reviews, I don't think I'd have a problem with that.

But they hate review boards and want them banned and call us "slobbyists". That's not reasonable.

It's always easier to generalize than to be specific.

Part of the problem caused by Twitter itself. There are literally HUNDREDS of troll / sniffer male Twitter accounts that cluster around the female accounts on SW Twitter. The male accounts pretend to be potential clients. Or they pretend to be other things. I caught 1 idiot pretending to be a lawyer and giving fake "legal advice" to a girl. When I queried the advice, he blocked me immediately. There are guys who send endless dick pics to every woman on the internet. There are guys who pull scams. And just guys who waste women's time.

It has gotten to the point where women are distant towards every male, except known, reputable clients and are frustrated and angry. This puts off the actual clients, who want to find the women charming, sociable and friendly. It's part of the accelerating downward spiral of SW Twitter, as a place to meet and size each other up.
Perfect explanation Mandrill, no bum fluff technology for moi. People who want to contact me know how. Also, no chance in hell freezing over would I give my DNA to a genealogy company.

I enjoy SW Twitter - but there's definitely far too much client-bashing and I've crossed off more than a few off the Wish List because of that. But it's a good platform for SWs to build a community, advertise their services and interact with clients in a way that gives them some control over the type of engagement.

As much as clients react negatively to the men-bashing on SW Twitter, imagine how sps feel reading some of the vile comments on review boards?

But I think a lot of girls would be well advised to remember why they're there in the first place, and it's not to chase off potential clients with constant complaints.
There was some discussion a few months ago of TERB having a set review form that might cut down on the extreme detail of some of the reviews that get posted.

Interesting point! It goes both ways, clients don't like to read about themselves on Twitter when it's negative and sex workers don't like to read about themselves on review boards.

Internet could be a better place if each side was a little more respectful. Not saying you can't say you dislike something but you can do it with class.

Interesting to read the reactions to Blair's post. The women are all angrily backing her up. The guys all feel sorry for the guy.

I felt really bad for the man complimenting her. I understand some may see it as a waste of time but in that case, just ignore him no?
I don't feel sorry for the guy. You don't text or call escorts unless you are inquiring about an appointment.

She could have been more diplomatic, but I bet this guy texts escorts all the time trying to gin up a conversation.

As I said, just ignore them. I rarely bother replying to those type of "inquiries". That and the people asking me "what's new?" even though we've never met.

See, I think you get it LC18. There is another thread on that and it is provoking strong feelings. I would never book a lady who responded to a bloke like that. Fair dinkum. You on the other hand...lol..

I understand her frustration. I was talking to an SP once about how many texts they get. It's a lot more than we think and there's a lot of time wasters. So i can forgive her for being snappy. Who knows how many she got that week? but to take it to the next level and post on twitter? That only guarantees one thing. If I ever visit Melbourne, I know who I'm not booking.
My time is precious so I would never reply to a text message like this, if I did it would probably be to say Thanks and I'd carry on with the serious inquiries.

I like twitter as I get to know more about providers, their attitudes, are they kind or rude etc. I also use DM to contact them. If even ask if they would like to see me. When they don't reply I take it that they don't want to see me or they are very busy. Then I go to the next one. S twitter helps in a way in searching for kind and polite providers😊
