Someone I met said he got a ticket for venturing into that part of the beach sans clothes. Erosion doesn't seem to have affected that area much if at all.The beach continues for about 1km toward the airport past the clothing optional area

Holy cow! Your post is a revelation. I think we mistakenly sat in the gay section during last year's air show. We were surrounded by men, young, old, in-between, tall, short, skinny, fat, of which one (only one) was totally nude.I thought it was a gay beach
Yes, from your picture you were in the middle of the gay sectionHoly cow! Your post is a revelation. I think we mistakenly sat in the gay section during last year's air show. We were surrounded by men, young, old, in-between, tall, short, skinny, fat, of which one (only one) was totally nude.
As it absolutely should be.This is not a nude beach, but a clothing optional beach
My 2 visits this summer contradict that hypothesis. I saw more women totally nude than any other year I can remember - and a greater proportion of those where young women than ever before. Of the women not totally nude, at least 50% were bare-breasted for part if not all of their visit.More and more the ladies who want to be nude are becoming more scarce due to the clothed gawkers and weirdos.
To be fair, I have not visited this year, perhaps things have changed for the better and the ladies have increased and the clothed gawkers decreased. Maybe the pandemic and lock down has something to do with this ? It is a clothing optional beach so the lifeguards are concerned with the safety of those in the water only. Unfortunately gawking is a nuisance but free and cannot be regulated on a public beach. As it absolutely should be.

Think you would see that at any other beach if we didn't have a clothing optional Hanlan's?
The clothing optional concept makes it less intimidating for those who want to sample nudity gradually, often accompanied by friends who are wearing some kind of swimsuit. A nude beach would attract - nudists - and the younger female crowd would forget about the idea, keep their tops on, and go elsewhere.
Clothed gawkers and weirdos, if anyone cares about them, are veryfew. Anyone behaving badly, ie. trying to take pictures, is straightened out by the responsible users and if necessary the lifeguards.
Agreed about Port Burwell. Warmer water than L. Ontario and significantly fewer gawkers than Hanlan's. Only downside is that with all the driftwood on the beach you can't really toss around a football or frisbee for fear of tripping. Still, it's worth the 15-minute walk from the parking lot to get to "the land of the leather-skinned people". Another plus is Scoops Ice Cream in town - only two minutes drive from the park entrance. As with Hanlan's, the beach is less crowded on weekdays than weekends.Hanna's is super fun. Everyone blends in- clothes or not, gay straight or bi. Hope the water warms up again soon! However, even though more of a drive- Port Burwell is my new fav. A lot more private than Hanlans and a bit of an older crowd/less 20 year olds. Some of my recent ad pics are from there, they turned out great, and easier to get that shots with less people around.. if you wait until 'golden hour' around 7pm, everyone leaves and you pretty much have the place to yourself, incase you wanted to do stuff....
Hey Sherpa63, would you post a pic of "Watermelon Girl" again. Thanks.Down at Burwell yesterday. The beach was closed for flooding - with the whole of the entrance way and gate underwater.
sorry - not me. google should be your friend in this
I remember this lady from a post last year about Port Burwell. Do you have any photos of her fabulous rack?Down at Burwell yesterday. The beach was closed for flooding - with the whole of the entrance way and gate underwater.
What was nice, was learning about the eastern way in, by the pier and around a fence into the park. You start at the dog beach and then walk to the nudie part, if you are so inclined. Yesterday was wonderful. Main beach empty and then a few hardy souls bearing it all, past the western boundaries, everyone friendly and talkative. Risked a fine for walking in, but fuck it.
If this is her, then this lady known as " Watermelon" was a vendor on Wreck Beach ten years ago or more but has now retired. Notice the nice natural honey blonde bush of a different era along with the natural melons.thanks. I never saw her in person but I heard her melons are famous.
She and her melons are minor celebrities.https://thetyee.ca/Culture/2015/07/16/Wreck-Beach-Watermelon/If this is her, then this lady known as " Watermelon" was a vendor on Wreck Beach ten years ago or more but has now retired.
