I'm sure they'll remove Blazing Saddles too. The black actress (Hattie McDaniel) that portrayed the maid ironically was the first to win a Oscar for best supporting actress. She told activists to fuck off after they asked her to refuse the award. This politically correct bullshit will backfire big time.

HBO Max has removed war epic film “Gone with the Wind” from its recently launched streaming service over its depiction of slavery, parent WarnerMedia said on Wednesday, joining other media companies that have pulled controversial TV shows as demand for racial sensitivity increases across the country.

The death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police triggered protests in the United States against racial inequality, while also forcing companies to check deep-seated racism prevalent in popular shows and films that are deemed insensitive.
ViacomCBS Inc did not renew “Cops” and Netflix Inc pulled “Little Britain” from its lineup, according to multiple reports.

Oscar-winning “Gone with the Wind” is set in a plantation in the southern state of Georgia during the Civil War and is based on the book by Margaret Mitchell.

“These racist depictions were wrong then and are wrong today, and we felt that to keep this title up without an explanation and a denouncement of those depictions would be irresponsible,” a WarnerMedia spokesman said.
The film will return with a “discussion of its historical context and a denouncement of those very depictions,” the spokesman added.

AT&T Inc’s Warner Media division launched HBO Max last month with a lineup that includes content from Warner Bros, New Line Cinema and Cartoon Network.

I guess the next step is to ban the books that these movies were based on. Maybe they’ll make you sign a waiver before letting you check it out.

Well, the movie's a "classic" - whatever that means - but it's racist as hell. Have you ever watched it?

I'm shrugging and "meh" about a lot of this tear-down ranting, but the Confederacy stuff needs to stfu and just go!

How many of us would actually watch this movie even if it were still being shown? Just a reminder that it's 4 hours long. If you're really a die hard fan of the movie then buy the DVD.

I've watched Gone With The Wind, it should be seen. Jim Crow was even more iron clad when it came out than during WW I when Birth of a Nation was released. You can't ban all things that doesn't jibe with the current moral code, you lose perspective.

Of course, this IS Conil and Oracle's favourite scene. IIRC, they dress up like the characters and re enact it for hours, giggling. The young black maid who comes in with the tray - Prissy - is often re enacted by Smallcock as part of his police sensitivity training.

So I am not surprised that they resent it being banned.

HBO...what stupidty will they think of next.

All this "political correctness" is Fn nuts.

The movie is a classic, it should remain as is, those who do not want to watch it do not have to watch.

Not only do BLM, so do WLM and everyone else's. Those who disagree can go to ....

Blazing Saddles is actually a parody of racism and white paranoia. Shockingly, it appears that you did not get the joke.

FYI...it is not being “banned”. HBO (a private company) no longer wishes to show it.

Don’t worry, though. I’m sure it will be available through links on Gab and 8-chan.

I was gunna say.
Gone With the Wind is a movie about how racism was good. Blazing Saddles is about how racism is bad. Really not the same thing at all.

Also, why is anyone worked up over this? Netflix rotates movies out all the time. No one has banned it. It hasn't been memory holed. HBO Max has withdrawn it. That's it.

LOL That's one of my favorite movies, with the guys smoking weed. And the black guy saying: where are the white women to the KKK. But they keep repeating the N word. I'm sure it will no longer be politically correct these days the same way it was hilarious years ago. Badge..Badge? I don't need no stinking badge !!!

For besmirching my good name I gave you William Shakespeare.

"The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers"

Now I wonder where he got that idea.......

O

OnTheWayOut

I thought the politically correct folks were fighting to get history re-written and taught in the schools to more accurately reflect their version of events? Wouldn't this movie help in their goal?

Seen it many years ago when it was re-release. If my memory serves me right, there is one scene that shows a black carpetbagger. I still like the song Tara's Theme.

Most famous line in movies: "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn."

Next to be banned will be "The Help".
