Not inconsistent w majority support of the protests. My family in the US supports the protests, but doesn't want looters working through their neighbourhood. So when the Nat Gd showed in the hood up some nights ago to turn away the protest, they were relieved. That said, they were scared of the cops and soldiers too and avoided them. Reactions can be on various levels.
Most people:
1. Support the protests
2. Are scared of looters and chaos
3. Are scared of the cops at this point as well
4. Are scared the soldiers and cops escalate the degree of tension and violence
5. Want some protection from the looters and see the cops and soldiers as the lesser evil
All this has done is exposed the mainstream media for me. People are more mad about Trump holding a bible a certain way more than they are about the actual thugs that burned down that church or countless other properties.
Look up David Dorn, a black retired officer who died defending looters from stealing TV's. Was a cop for 35+ years. Black looters killed him, his death was recorded.
Almost 2 days later, still nothing from mainstream media like cnn or nbc. I guess his black life doesn't matter. More like his black life doesn't fit the leftwing nutcase narrative they have been selling to the public.

The other officers will get there day in court. They are being made examples. If I was an attorney, I would want to be the defense on this one.
I expect the Union will back these three up. However, I don't know if the Union can get them their jobs back. The State of Minnesota filing a human rights complaint against the Minneapolis Police was a good move. I suspect the Police Union could be dragged into it some way or another especially if they look like they systemically back racist police and racist practices.
