Maître oagre,But Ceiling Cat, the fish may be LANDED in AK, but they are caught outside the state in either federal or international waters. It's a "fishy" question!
Your argument does not hold water. Fish caught by fishermen from Alaska is under the jurisdiction of the state and US federal law, therefor it is Alaskan fish and seafood. Whether it is caught within or without of the 200 mile territorial waters of the USA. The worth of the fisheries of the single state of Alaska is 32% of all of the US fisheries, exceeding the worth of all of the west coast fisheries, the Gulf state fisheries and almost equalling the east coast fisheries.
The commercial fisheries of the state of Michigan is only worth $14 million of whitefish mostly used for smoking by native peoples of the state for smoked fish.
