So much for social distancing

Saw a video on Tik Tok (guilty pleasure) taken in Niagara Falls supposedly today. Sidewalks jam-packed with people, didn't see any masks. According to the creator it was today, and was confirmed in other comments.

Also saw comments saying major disregard for distancing in many parks in Toronto.

Does not bode well for an early end to this...

They've done the calculus and realize that with a near zero percent chance of dying from covid, there is little reason to change behavior. I agree with them.

Mid-town Toronto to-day, many people wearing masks (about 50%-60% and no, they are not all Asians) but physical distancing is impossible in many places on the sidewalk due to insufficient space. Some people walking in the bike lanes to avoid getting too close to other humans.

today I was on High Park, and things looked ok

- people was, overall, following social distance,
- no more than 10% of the people was wearing masks; I was not wearing a mask and I won't wear a mask unless I am in a packed bus or train

GTA & Thereabouts...
I hated going out today... Trying to buy shit to do maintenance on my house and battle a skunk that is invading my turf. It took forever to get in to stores with line ups longer than a roller coaster at Canada's Wonderland... Everyone was wearing a mask except me. It's like everyone wanted to be a doctor or dentist. People were touching everything though...

I've learned two things about myself during these COVID times:

1. I do not like waiting for my doom, and
2. I truly waste a lot of money.

That is not even remotely true. Even if you don't die the first time you get it, you could the second time... or the third time. And there is already plenty of evidence against herd immunity now. People are getting re-infected all over the place. Also, we still have NO idea the longer term affects this has.

Kids are literally having heart attacks post Covid. And this is JUST the start.

Wise up.

The problem here is that by not wearing a mask, you are not going to get this faster because everyone else was. Instead YOU will be the one putting everyone else at risk. Congrats, you are a douchebag.

Please post your proofs as I've not heard or read a single item of which you mention as truth. It seems you've taken a ridiculously panicked stance.

The virus is extremely virulent and contagious. It just takes one person coming in contact with many person to set things off and if this happens then 14 days latter there will be a lot of hand ringing among those who where in Niagara Falls today. This scenario has played out all over the world yet the lock down cannot last indefinitely can it? We can only delay the inevitable. The monumental challenge is to stall the risk of contracting a virus which will kill a small part of the population without killing a large part of the global economy.

People getting reinfected all over the place? Do you have any sources to back up your claims or do you just get a thrill in spreading fear propaganda like the rest of the doomers? People are also dying of the actual flu and a slew of other diseases...many are having heart attacks in their actual bedrooms because they are discouraged from going to the hospital or even worse receive life saving surgeries...
It's pretty evident that there are reinfections and that young people get heart attacks (can get them, not will). But the bottom line is, that there is still a lot to learn about this virus and yes, it is scary. What people here who are only able to think with their little head forget is how contagious it is even if you personally don't get any symptoms. It's fine I guess to go in these big crowds and go on with your life, so long as you stay the f away from the elderly or weak (ie don't ever visit your parents).

Yes, literally every reputable news source.

I was one of those advocated for people taking this more seriously then they were however now that the statistics are in I now feel it's not worth shutting down our economy and society for it. And these numbers are based on the CFR not the IFR. Thanks to serological testing across the globe we now know that covid is at least 10 times more prevalent then the number of cases we've actually found. Which means the fatality rate of those under 44 is something like 1 in 10,000. The older generation should be the ones sheltering in place not society as a whole.

You know what I would like to see. Set up testing stations at 4 corners in the city and everyone who walks by for say a 4 hour period gets tested. Those results would be usefull to see just how prevelant the virus is out there on the street. We already know Long Care Homes and hospitals are hot spots so those results are really no longer much use to see the bigger picture.

Not a single source provided for your claim of re-infections. Kids having heart attacks... statistically insignificant.

No masks, gloves, or additional hand washing. Go on with your life. Right now it's consumed with fear, lies, and propaganda which is unhealthy.

The WHO has not ruled out second infections. They have no said it is 100% possible but they have said they don't know if it impossible.

There are reports coming out of China that there have been reinfections but can we really trust the news coming out of China? So take that for what it is worth.

I've seen a few reports of reinfection on my Facebook news feed. I'm sure how reliable this info is. It's possible when people were released from the hospital they were weakened and still had traces of the virus. Early reports also had patients improving and then falling back hard.

I think it's obvious there is an information war going on in the U.S. While it might seem to neatly cut across political lines, young, healthy people seem to be diverging from the lockdown orthodoxy. Elderly, sick and obese people are deeply concerned. Perhaps there are these splits in thinking in Canada as well.
