This article could open up the floodgates to Universal CERB.
No extension for this flawed program.

Bread and Circus boys. Bread and Circus. The two grand a month is a pacifier for the masses. No flaws in the program. The program is working just the way they planned. Why do you think there are so few protests?? All the bugmen are too consumed with their free porn and uber eats. Once CERB runs out they'll just devolve to Social Assistance. This free money is sucking the last drops of ambition from the unemployed masses.

It really is a free lunch. 200,000 cases red-flagged but will likely be written off.
Do not bet on it, we live in the 21 st. century computer age. If you are caught they will red flag you. There will be more chance of a tax audit and pull you over at border checks.

They are not going to just shrivel up and fade away onto welfare.
The people who would have protested will be protesting soon, as CERB is only 4 payments.

I think we will see major protests and rent strikes when eviction halting orders are lifted and massive numbers of people find themselves several months rent in the hole.

Anyone who was getting $2000.00 a month and wasn't putting part of it on their rent is an absolute welfare bum who should be investigated , charged , prosecuted and jailed. I know two already, and CANNOT wait until they get busted. The "takers" in this society are REALLY being fleshed out in society now.

They will investigate, 100%. They may take their time, like 6 years. But they'll claw back every penny . A few years ago, I over contributed to my RRSP, about $5,000. The whole saga lasted over 6 months but I had to pay a penalty and interest on that penalty.

It's the Government, not a joke. They will investigate 100%. It may take some time, but eventually they will catch everyone and get their money for sure. I got paid $563 extra from EI, and they found out after 2 years and sent me a letter to pay back with penalty and interest. LOL. So, don't play games!!!

Actually I think it's the opposite: many of the people I have spoken to are dying to work again. What is probably more relevant is how many people who do mindless, soul-destroying jobs will decide not to return to them, but re-direct to learning something new or doing something totally different.

It's highly, highly unlikely. They will flag obvious concerns, and come back to them, and forget the rest. This is not a normal time, and we are not returning to "normal" any time soon. The government is under enormous stress right now. They have already admitted they won't even look at things for a year, and that's probably posturing to prevent more scamming and to force people to voluntarily give the money back (which apparently they already doing by the thousands based on what I read yesterday).

I also think that for Trudeau this will be the first step towards some sort of UBI.
