With the government blessing and permits.

AFAIK, N95 masks were never manufactured in Canada. And there is no "permit" or blessing required to source products from around the world. Unless you are talkng about Free Trade Agreements, then yes, that is a "blessing".

Quite simply, there is not enough domestic need in normal times for N95 masks to have a manufacturing plant set up to produce these in a pandemic. These and many medications are supposed to be stockpiled in a strategic reserve. They did just that after SARS.

There WAS a government stockpile of masks and PPE that "expired" and was thrown out by some bureaucrat. THAT, the stupidity of the bureaucracy, is a big problem. The stockpile was in a climate controlled warehouse, they are packaged in plastic and so unless they got wet and moldy, they should have inspected them before throwing them in the landfill.

I heard that the virus only lives 24-48 hours on most surfaces, 72 hours for plastic and stainless steel. True? If true, just rotate your masks and gloves every 3-4 days and they should be virus free or have only dead viruses.

Inhaling dead virus or more correctly virus that has lost its
viability could be good for you as a natural vaccine. Provided
that your immune recognizes any remaining protein spikes in
the dead viral matter in your respiratory tract it could help
strengthen your defence against deadly future covid attacks.

Interesting theory. At one time, I thought the flu shot contained a minute amount of the flu virus. Maybe the same theory also applies to Covid-19?

BTW: There's now a theory that young children should be fed a tiny bit of peanuts to build resistance to peanut allergy.

Do not buy masks from Fortressmask.com. Ordered one mask two months ago and I have not received it. I saw some negative reviews today that I wish I read two months ago.The website says that they are located in Australia but it turns out they are really from China.
Same here, ordered mask April 1. Canada Post says they have it and it cleared customs but for some reason they aren't delivering.

You don't really need gloves, just wash your hands. I recently took a friend to a scheduled hospital appointment and they told her to keep the mask on but to take off her gloves.
I would wear gloves if doing something like grocery shopping. The virus will get on your hands and then you might rub your eyes or nose and transfer it. It's simple to take them off and not touch the outside area.

I purchased masks from Walmart and gloves from Amazon and got them within a couple of weeks. I re-ordered them from Amazon this past week and I'll receive them June 1 to 22 but I have enough until then.

A friend of mine was in Haliburton and was able to purchase masks, gloves and sanitizer at a local pharmacy without any problem or limit on the amount purchased. My thinking is they're becoming more available in towns around Toronto. When this plague began, I called as far away as Huntsville for masks and everyone was out of stock.

People are walking around with dirty, soiled and contaminated disposable gloves and masks with a lot of glove to mask self contacts happening . Wait until public washrooms open again as the virus has been found in feces as well.

The flu shot available in Canada is made from a live vaccine from last year's flu epidemics in China, usually from three centers. China is the flu virus supply chain . The upcoming flu shot status just might be a game changer with all that has transpired .

I just ordered these :

https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0876KR5KG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It’s very expensive but it’s rare that you find a “fda” approved label.

I’m just restocking in case the pandemic goes longer than another couple of months. I was fortunate to have ordered a lot of n95s and much better quality masks in January. The masks they’re selling now seem to be of very bad quality.
FDA approved ?
Lol hate to be the one to tell you, but you got scammed

The corner store in my hood sells Made in South Korea surgical masks(in original package) and boxes of vinyl and latex gloves. There doesn't seem to be any shortage. I have a few boxes of the proper 3M N95 for my personal usage that I got back in January when the "experts" were still promoting the futility of trying to protect yourself.

Your long and prestigious education and career in epidemiology has saved you indeed.
Why bother with the "experts" when we have jcpro?
You certainly missed your calling.
If only YOU were in charge.

ROFLMAO!!! Ok, go and get the proper gear. Oh, yeah. You can't because when YOU were listening to our "experts" I took the correct steps, while "our" Chinese were buying it out and shipping it to China. I'm an expert when it comes to looking after myself. Proper N95, proper gloves and even medical grade shields. I also stocked up my pantry, freezer and bar, so I don't have to freeze my balls off, standing outside of the stores with the shortsighted shmucks.

Don't need to.
I'm connected to the healthcare industry, so PPE isn't a problem.
I also have plenty of food stockpiled.

As usual, you missed the point.
I was mocking your pathetic dig at the 'experts'.
You sure missed your calling as 'world savior'.

Oh, that's right, I forgot. You mop the floors at the hospitals. What do you do, steal them from the stockroom?

....
As long as you remember to take the gloves off before touching your face. Sadly studies show that we do it so often subconsciously that putting on gloves immediately before shopping and taking them off immediately after is no different than washing your hands immediately before and after.

Jealous?

Your disgusting disdain for front-line workers shows your true character.
You are truly pathetic.

Jealous?? Not at all, we do what we need to survive. Just don't get cought. As for the "front line" workers- thanks for doing your job. I'm sure it comes as no surprise to them that, while plying the profession they have chosen, they would be among the sick people.

I would not trust any mask that is made in China! Since you already bought mask from China, I strongly suggest you you wear two mask at the same time( double mask wearing).
Everything made from China is junk! Didn't you hear latest quality control that Canada bought N95 mask from China is substandard quality!
Canada refused to paid full price for it and they not using those substandard mask in Hospital!
