After another trip to a busy grocery outlet yesterday, it's clear to me that MANY people are still not complying with public health directives. At least 3 out of every 10 shoppers at this store were unnecessarily accompanied by 1 or more other people. Everyone I saw appeared to be able bodied.

Cut it out!

One, you are risking unnecessary contact between people everytime you go anywhere or do anything that is not strictly necessary.

Two, you are doubling the wait times for EVERYONE to enter these stores, which are all limiting the number of people shopping at any one time.

Follow the rules, but just as importantly, be considerate of others and reduce the stress and inconvenience of the measures being taken.

Do not go to grocery stores!!! Cut it out!!! Just order online and get the grocery put in your trunk when you pick them up. You do not need to leave your car. I know Walmart and Loblaws offer this services. If you are shopping in stores, you are only half as bad as people who shop in pairs, but infinitely more bad as people who order grocery pick-up.

Well I'm the kind of person who likes to look at what I buy when it comes to groceries . Many times I'll go to the store to pick up something on special like green beans and when I see them I say forget it . The quality was not there. I went to Costco today . The length of the lineup went the entire distance of the store and along the entire one side . I said forget it . There were so many couples there standing in line. Really you need 2 people to go shopping . The extra person prevents another body from going into the store . Like WTF .

Same with Lococo's . Couples in line . There is one grocery store that only allows 1 person per family . I can see a single mother bringing in her kid because she has no one to watch the kid but couples really . Is that necessary for a couple to go in .

I don't mind grocery shopping but I sure as heck not going to wait a hour outside to go into the store unless I really really need something . Yes they had toilet paper . Every buggy I saw coming out of the store had toilet paper . LOL

He's right lines and wait times would be much shorter if people would stop bringing their whole family when they go shopping.
Real compassionate for single mothers who can't leave home alone without their children.

The curve is flattened. We don't need extreme restrictions. It's not unreasonable to shop with your family, especially if you need help transporting things. A young mother I know is very poor and relies on public transit and can't carry her groceries home alone. She has no choice to bring her young child and fiance with her.

So until you come up with a solution for those people, it's time to check yourself.

The pairs and families shopping together make themselves more difficult to avoid. As long as we are social distancing, grab your damn cart, go up and down the aisles, get your stuff and check out all by yourself.

I see couples and families spreading around aisles one moment and then huddling in front of shelves making protracted decisions about cereal and blocking access like it's life as usual.

That is simply a personal opinion of yours and non factual.

Canada yesterday had a single day death count of 107 which was the second highest ever, two days ago Canada had the highest single day death count at 123 and today we already have 181 deaths so far which is now the newest high daily death count.
We also had a high of daily confirmed cases of 1600 on April 5 and today so far we are already at 1550 confirmed cases.
What you claim to be the flattening of the curve is an increase in the daily confirmed cases and an increase in the number of daily deaths.

Daily number of death and total number of inventions are "historical" data when one needs to look at the epidemic process. The relevant data for the "curve" is the number of new cases each day. And over the last 2 weeks this number stays the same, which is, by definition, a flat portion of the curve. So, indeed, the curve has been flattened.

Those numbers are daily confirmed cases, which means new cases each day.
The 1550 so far today is daily confirmed cases meaning they are new cases and it's an upswing in the last 4 days on daily new cases. It's extremely dangerous to have a 1 or two or even a few days of drop in the number of daily confirmed cases and call it a curve flattening with this virus specially when many are asymptomatic for weeks at a time.
The only way the curve is flatenning when there is a continurous daily drop in a rolling 14 day period in the number of confirmed daily cases. Not an up and down swing which is what we have had in the last few weeks sometimes by as much as 50% in difference upward or downward.

It's not difficult.

One goes in while the other either waits in the car or waits for a call from the checkout to come get them.

It's what I've been doing(the latter mostly) and works fine.

How difficult is it really to shop? Take list, walk aisles, add extra for specials, add a few treats, just before loading on belt text spouse. Do checkout and wait outside for spouse.

Order online and curbside pick up. For fresh stuff pop into your local fresh fruit/vegetable market. No need to go to a chain grocery store with the fam.

There are private grocers, no line ever. One 24h one for example on Jarvis, another mini Pustaries on Church. Depends what you need/want, but I got everything I was looking for

Our society doesn't like following rules exactly. East Asian societies are more strict and that's why they are more successful in dealing with covid. Diversity is not our strength.

I am sorry, but it is mathematically incorrect. By definition, a flat importation of the curve (a plateau) is when the number of new cases is constant over time (i.e., the first derivative of the number of new daily cases with respect to time is zero). "Curve faltering" is a situation leading to the flat curve, i.e., a situation when the number of new cases are still increasing but with the lower rate (the first derivative is positive but the second is negative). When the number of new daily cases will start to decrease (the first derivative become negative), it means that we are way pass the flat curve. So, not only the "curve is flattered" it is actually, flattered already. Gosh, why people try to use mathematical terms when they have no idea what they are talking about.

It is extremely dangerous to use cell phone why shopping before you actually have a chance to wash your hands.

Just look what's happening in some States now . Thousands of Right Wing Trump loving conservatives are already protesting in the streets . People even handing out candies . Comeback in a couple of weeks and show us how you're doing .

That's the American way . Government can't tell me what to do even though it benefits the people . We have rights they are saying . Yes that's true they have a right to get sick and die .

That's making a lot of assumptions though. I live with 6 other people, we all buy our own groceries, but two of us go together to minimise the number of outings we have to make. I also know people who are driving others who would otherwise have to take public transit.
